Target roles requiring specialized trade credentials
Michels sponsors Green Cards primarily for roles where specialized technical skills are demonstrably scarce. Align your resume to highlight certifications, licensed trade experience, or engineering credentials that map directly to infrastructure and utility construction, the sectors where Michels files most actively.
Understand which EB pathway fits your profile
EB-3 covers skilled workers and professionals, while EB-2 requires an advanced degree or exceptional ability. Most construction and field-engineering roles at Michels qualify under EB-3. If you hold a master's degree in civil or electrical engineering, confirm with the hiring team whether your role supports an EB-2 filing instead.
Prepare your PERM documentation before the offer stage
PERM labor certification requires Michels to document that no qualified U.S. workers are available for your role. Gather your credentials, foreign degree equivalency evaluations, and employment history in advance so HR can begin the DOL recruitment process without delays once an offer is extended.
Use Migrate Mate to verify Michels's sponsorship history
Before applying, search Michels on Migrate Mate to review its Green Card filing history by role and location. This helps you target positions where sponsorship has already been approved, so you're not negotiating sponsorship from scratch in a role that hasn't supported it before.
Negotiate sponsorship terms explicitly in your offer letter
Green Card sponsorship should be confirmed in writing before you accept. Ask specifically whether Michels will cover PERM filing costs, attorney fees, and I-140 filing fees. Construction employers sometimes distinguish between company-funded and employee-funded sponsorship, so clarifying scope upfront avoids disputes during the process.
Account for PERM and priority date timelines in your planning
The full Green Card process at an employer like Michels typically spans several years once you factor in PERM certification, I-140 approval, and priority date movement tracked by USCIS. If you're on a TN visa or F-1 OPT, confirm your current status provides enough runway before your authorized period expires.
Michels Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Michels sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Michels sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees. Its sponsorship activity covers both EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories, and it has filed on behalf of workers in construction, engineering, and infrastructure roles. Sponsorship is typically initiated after you've established performance in a role, not at the point of hire.
Which roles at Michels are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Michels's Green Card sponsorship tends to concentrate in skilled construction trades, civil and electrical engineering, and project management. Field technicians, equipment operators with specialized credentials, and licensed engineers working on utility and infrastructure projects are among the profiles most commonly supported. Corporate and administrative roles sponsor less frequently.
How do I start the Green Card process at Michels?
The process begins with PERM labor certification filed by Michels with the DOL, which requires the company to conduct a formal recruitment test. Once PERM is certified, Michels files an I-140 petition with USCIS on your behalf. Your priority date is established at that point and determines when you can apply to adjust status or apply for an immigrant visa.
How long does Green Card sponsorship take at a construction employer like Michels?
PERM certification alone can take six months to over a year depending on DOL processing times and whether an audit is triggered. I-140 adjudication adds several more months. For EB-3 filers from certain countries, priority date backlogs tracked by USCIS can extend the total timeline significantly. Planning around your current visa status is essential.
How do I find Green Card jobs at Michels that include sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists open roles at Michels filtered by Green Card sponsorship history, so you can identify positions where the company has an established record of filing. Cross-reference any role you're targeting against Michels's active PERM filings through the DOL to confirm the employer is currently recruiting for that specific occupation.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Michels?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
