Align your credentials to EB-2 requirements early
Morgan Stanley sponsors primarily through the EB-2 pathway for roles requiring advanced degrees or exceptional ability. Before applying, confirm your degree field directly matches the role's specialty occupation definition. A mismatch delays PERM labor certification and can push you to EB-3 instead.
Target teams with recurring sponsorship history
Technology infrastructure, quantitative strategies, and compliance functions at Morgan Stanley have consistent Green Card filing patterns. Prioritize roles in these divisions over generalist business units, where sponsorship decisions are made case-by-case and approval is less predictable for international candidates.
Research prevailing wage levels before negotiating
DOL sets the prevailing wage Morgan Stanley must certify during PERM. Use the OFLC Wage Search to check wage levels for your target role and location before you negotiate an offer. Your offered salary must meet or exceed the certified wage or the PERM filing will fail.
Secure internal sponsorship commitment before your H-1B expires
Morgan Stanley's legal team initiates PERM filings internally, but timing depends on your manager's approval and HR bandwidth. Raise the Green Card conversation at least 12 months before your authorized stay expires so PERM recruitment and DOL processing don't create a gap in your status.
Use Migrate Mate to identify your strongest filing pathway
Before accepting a role at Morgan Stanley, use Migrate Mate to review the company's Green Card filing history by job category and visa pathway. Knowing whether your target role has historically been filed under EB-2 or EB-3 helps you negotiate sponsorship terms and set realistic timeline expectations.
Document specialized skills that support a PERM job description
Morgan Stanley's PERM filings require a job description narrow enough that domestic recruitment genuinely fails. Work with your hiring manager to ensure your role description reflects specialized technical or financial skills you demonstrably hold, reducing the risk of a successful domestic applicant invalidating your PERM.
Morgan Stanley Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Morgan Stanley sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Morgan Stanley sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying international employees. Sponsorship is most common in technology, quantitative research, compliance, and financial analysis functions. The process typically begins after an employee has demonstrated performance in a role, and sponsorship is employer-initiated through the PERM labor certification process administered by DOL.
Which roles at Morgan Stanley are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Technology engineers, quantitative analysts, data scientists, and compliance specialists are the roles most frequently sponsored for Green Cards at Morgan Stanley. These positions require specialized credentials that support the narrow job descriptions needed for PERM labor certification. Front-office revenue roles in sales and trading are sponsored less consistently, as sponsorship decisions depend on individual business unit approval.
How does the Green Card application process work at Morgan Stanley?
Morgan Stanley's immigration team files a PERM labor certification with DOL on your behalf, documenting that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the role. Once PERM is certified, the company files an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. You then wait for a visa number to become available based on your preference category and country of birth before filing for adjustment of status.
How long does it take to get a Green Card through Morgan Stanley?
PERM labor certification alone takes six months to over a year depending on DOL processing times and whether an audit is triggered. After PERM certification, I-140 adjudication at USCIS adds additional time. For applicants born in India or China, visa backlogs in the EB-2 and EB-3 categories can extend the total wait significantly beyond the filing timeline.
How do I find Green Card jobs at Morgan Stanley that include sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists open roles at Morgan Stanley filtered for Green Card sponsorship history, so you can focus on positions in teams that have consistently sponsored international employees. Applying directly through Morgan Stanley's careers portal without this context risks targeting divisions where sponsorship is rare or decided entirely at manager discretion after an offer is made.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Morgan Stanley?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
