Target roles that match EB-2 criteria
Stifel's investment banking and research analyst positions often require advanced degrees or specialized expertise, which can qualify for EB-2. If your role demands a master's degree or equivalent, push your hiring manager to file EB-2 rather than defaulting to EB-3.
Understand how PERM shapes your timeline
Most Stifel Green Card filings go through PERM labor certification before USCIS adjudicates the petition. DOL must advertise your role and confirm no qualified U.S. workers are available. This process typically runs six to twelve months before you even file the immigrant petition.
Align your credentials with O*NET before applying
Review the O*NET occupation profile for your target role at Stifel before your application. If your degree field and job duties align clearly with the listed requirements, you reduce the risk of a PERM denial based on insufficient job qualification documentation.
Raise Green Card sponsorship during offer negotiations
Stifel's talent acquisition team handles sponsorship discussions at the offer stage, not after onboarding. Ask directly whether your role is eligible for Green Card sponsorship and request a written statement of intent. Verbal assurances aren't enforceable once you've signed.
Search Stifel's verified filings on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Stifel's DOL Labor Condition Application history by job title and office location. This shows which roles and teams have an active Green Card sponsorship track record, so you can target your applications toward positions with a real precedent.
Check prevailing wage levels before negotiating salary
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for your job title and Stifel's office location. If your offered salary falls below the Level II or Level III threshold, PERM certification can be delayed or denied regardless of your qualifications.
Stifel Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Stifel sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Stifel sponsors Green Card visas for professionals in investment banking, financial research, and related roles. Sponsorship typically follows an established period of employment on a temporary work visa such as H-1B visa. Eligibility depends on the specific role, business need, and whether the position meets PERM labor certification requirements set by DOL.
Which roles at Stifel are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Roles in investment banking, equity research, fixed income, and quantitative analysis are most commonly sponsored. These positions tend to require specialized degrees and technical expertise, which supports EB-2 filings. Front-office and revenue-generating roles generally have stronger sponsorship cases than support or administrative functions at firms like Stifel.
How do I start the Green Card process at Stifel?
The process begins when your manager and HR team agree to initiate sponsorship. Stifel's immigration counsel then files a PERM application with DOL, which involves a supervised recruitment process to confirm no qualified U.S. workers are displaced. Once PERM is certified, USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition before you can file for adjustment of status.
How long does the Green Card process take at Stifel?
The PERM labor certification stage alone typically takes six to twelve months. After that, USCIS processing of the EB-2 or EB-3 petition adds additional time. If your country of birth has a visa backlog, your priority date determines when you can file for adjustment of status, which can extend the overall timeline significantly.
How do I find open Green Card jobs at Stifel?
Migrate Mate lists Stifel roles filtered by Green Card sponsorship history, so you can identify which positions and office locations have an active filing track record. Targeting roles with prior Green Card filings gives you the strongest foundation for a sponsorship conversation during the hiring process.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Stifel?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
