WHY BOX NEEDS YOU
Box is building the eventing backbone that powers our products and enables customers to integrate, automate, and scale on our platform. We're looking for a Technical Product Manager to lead improvements in system efficiency, evolve our internal eventing and signaling capabilities, and help expose the right features externally. Your work will support the multitude of new products being built on the Box platform like extract and workflow, while impacting the bottom line by reducing costs and redundancy across the entire product infrastructure.
You'll partner closely with engineering teams in Redwood City and Poland and with our architecture group to define the roadmap, shape implementation, and deliver measurable platform outcomes. If you love diving into complex stacks, aligning diverse stakeholders, and shipping changes that move the performance needle, this role is for you.
- Own the roadmap for events, signaling, and asynchronous processing capabilities across internal and external use cases.
- Lead product discovery with internal consumer teams; translate requirements into clear specs, backlogs, and success metrics.
- Drive efficiency initiatives that reduce redundant data transfer and optimize compute usage with measurable impact.
- Partner with architects and engineering to make sound implementation decisions and deliver high-quality releases.
- Establish instrumentation, baselines, and reporting for platform performance, adoption, and reliability.
- Enable responsible externalization of eventing capabilities, including developer-facing documentation and guardrails.
- Coordinate cross-site execution (Redwood City, Poland), remove blockers, and keep stakeholders aligned on progress and trade-offs.
- Communicate vision and outcomes clearly to leadership and partner teams.
WHO YOU ARE
- 5+ years in product management with experience on platform/infrastructure or large-scale distributed systems.
- Proven track record driving system efficiency (e.g., compute optimization, reducing data transfer, improving signaling) with quantified results.
- Comfortable engaging in technical discussions on messaging/event-driven architecture and asynchronous processing.
- Strong stakeholder management and "social presence"; able to influence across teams and geographies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with crisp specs, prioritization, and metrics-driven decision-making.
- Bias toward implementation details and partnering deeply with engineering and architects.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams; able to manage time zones and handoffs.
- Nice to have: Background in consulting or enterprise platforms; familiarity with pub/sub systems, streaming pipelines, and any prior development experience.

Target engineering and product roles first
Box's H-1B sponsorship is concentrated in software engineering, product management, and technical architecture. These specialty occupations align directly with H-1B requirements, so candidates with backgrounds in these areas have the strongest case for sponsorship.
Confirm sponsorship before applying
Not every open role at Box will come with H-1B sponsorship. Before investing time in an application, verify that the specific posting explicitly states visa sponsorship is available. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history.
Understand Box's H-1B timeline constraints
H-1B sponsorship at Box requires employer filing well ahead of the October 1 start date. Engaging with recruiters early in the hiring cycle gives Box enough runway to initiate the Labor Condition Application and petition filing process on time.
Demonstrate specialty occupation fit clearly
Box operates in a specialized cloud content management and security space. Framing your experience around Box's core technology domains, such as cloud infrastructure, enterprise integrations, or data security, strengthens the specialty occupation argument central to any H-1B petition.
Ask about sponsorship directly during recruiter screens
Technology companies including Box often have nuanced sponsorship policies that vary by team, budget cycle, or role level. Raising the H-1B question with the recruiter early avoids late-stage surprises and confirms the hiring manager has budget and willingness to sponsor.
Leverage Box's enterprise and go-to-market teams
Beyond engineering, Box regularly hires for enterprise sales, customer success, and solutions engineering roles that can qualify as specialty occupations. Candidates in these functions should not overlook Box when searching for H-1B-sponsoring employers in the technology sector.
Box H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Box sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Box sponsors H-1B visas. The company has an established record of filing H-1B petitions for qualified candidates, primarily in technology and software roles. If you find a Box role that matches your background, it is worth confirming sponsorship availability directly with the recruiter during your initial conversation.
Which roles and departments at Box typically receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Box is most common in software engineering, product management, solutions engineering, and technical architecture. These roles align well with H-1B specialty occupation requirements because they demand a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field. Enterprise-facing roles in customer success and sales engineering can also qualify depending on the position's duties.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Box?
Once Box extends an offer and confirms sponsorship, their legal or HR team works with an immigration attorney to file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor, followed by the H-1B petition with USCIS. As the employee, your main responsibility is providing accurate documentation of your education, employment history, and passport details promptly when requested.
How do I find H-1B-sponsored job openings at Box?
Box posts openings on its careers page, but sponsorship details are not always listed explicitly. Migrate Mate aggregates verified H-1B sponsor data so you can search Box roles with confidence that sponsorship history is confirmed. Filtering by verified sponsors saves time compared to manually checking individual postings across multiple platforms.
What is the typical timeline for H-1B sponsorship at Box?
The H-1B process runs on a federal calendar. USCIS opens registration in March, conducts the lottery, and approves petitions for an October 1 start date. Box needs several months of lead time to prepare the LCA and petition. Candidates hired outside this cycle may need to explore cap-exempt options or wait for the next filing window.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Box?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
