Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
Cleveland Clinic's H-1B roles in medicine, research, and clinical care require a direct connection between your degree field and the position. Pull the occupation's O*NET profile and confirm your credentials map to the specific specialty before applying.
Target departments with recurring international hiring
Cleveland Clinic's research institutes, cardiovascular programs, and graduate medical education departments have historically brought on international candidates. Filter your job search by these divisions rather than applying broadly across the entire health system.
Verify Cleveland Clinic's E-Verify enrollment before accepting
As a STEM OPT employer, Cleveland Clinic must be enrolled in E-Verify. Confirm this before signing any offer letter. If you're transitioning from OPT to H-1B, this enrollment is a prerequisite for your cap-gap authorization to remain valid.
Benchmark your salary against prevailing wage data
Before negotiating your offer, check the OFLC Wage Search for your occupation code and Cleveland Clinic's Ohio or Florida location. Your offered wage must meet the DOL prevailing wage for your role, and knowing the floor strengthens your negotiating position.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm Cleveland Clinic's LCA filing history
Before your interview, use Migrate Mate to review Cleveland Clinic's Labor Condition Application filings by job title. This tells you which roles they've actually sponsored, the wage levels certified, and which departments file most frequently for H-1B positions.
Clarify H-1B petition timing during your offer negotiation
Cleveland Clinic's HR and legal teams handle H-1B filings internally, but processing timelines vary by department and time of year. Ask your recruiter whether they plan to file under standard or premium USCIS processing so you can plan your start date accurately.
Cleveland Clinic H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Cleveland Clinic sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Cleveland Clinic sponsors H-1B visas across clinical, research, and administrative roles. The organization has an established immigration program that handles petitions internally. Sponsorship is most common for physicians, nurses, research scientists, and allied health professionals where the role meets the USCIS specialty occupation standard.
Which roles and departments at Cleveland Clinic typically receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Cleveland Clinic is concentrated in clinical medicine, biomedical research, nursing, pharmacy, and health informatics. Graduate medical education positions and research institute roles are particularly active. Roles that require a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field are the strongest candidates for H-1B approval under USCIS guidelines.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Cleveland Clinic?
Once Cleveland Clinic extends a job offer, their internal immigration or HR team initiates the H-1B process, which begins with a Labor Condition Application filed with the DOL. The employer then submits the I-129 petition to USCIS. You can use Migrate Mate to review their historical LCA filings by role before your interview, so you arrive prepared.
How do I estimate the H-1B timeline if I'm applying to Cleveland Clinic?
The H-1B cap runs on a federal fiscal year cycle, with petitions filed in April for an October 1 start date. If Cleveland Clinic files under standard USCIS processing, expect several months of wait time after the lottery selection. Premium processing shortens the adjudication window to roughly 15 business days, though employer participation varies.
What practical steps should I take before applying to Cleveland Clinic for an H-1B role?
Confirm your degree field maps directly to the role's O*NET occupation profile, check the OFLC Wage Search to understand the prevailing wage for your position and location, and verify Cleveland Clinic's E-Verify enrollment. Ask your recruiter early whether H-1B sponsorship is available for the specific role, as sponsorship decisions can vary by department and budget cycle.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Cleveland Clinic?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
