Target roles that align with H-1B specialty occupation requirements
Mass General Brigham sponsors H-1B visas for positions requiring specialized knowledge, think physicians, researchers, scientists, and clinical specialists. Focus your applications on roles with clear degree requirements in a specific field to strengthen your eligibility case.
Look beyond clinical roles to research and academic positions
As an academic medical system, Mass General Brigham has deep ties to research and teaching. Lab-based, biomedical research, and academic faculty positions are common H-1B sponsorship pathways that international candidates sometimes overlook when targeting healthcare employers.
Understand that sponsorship is employer-initiated in healthcare
Mass General Brigham won't sponsor a visa without a confirmed job offer. Focus on securing the offer first, sponsorship follows. Demonstrating your clinical or research qualifications upfront makes hiring managers more comfortable initiating the process.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsorship opportunities at MGB
Not every job posting discloses sponsorship availability. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, making it easier to identify Mass General Brigham roles where H-1B support is actively provided.
Factor in healthcare credentialing timelines alongside visa processing
Healthcare roles often require state licensure or medical credentialing on top of visa processing. Start both processes in parallel, waiting for one before initiating the other can significantly delay your start date at Mass General Brigham.
Connect with Mass General Brigham's international recruitment or HR teams directly

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Mass General Brigham sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Mass General Brigham sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles across its hospital and research network. Sponsorship is most common for positions that meet the specialty occupation standard, typically roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as physicians, clinical researchers, scientists, and specialized healthcare professionals. The sponsorship process is employer-driven and begins after a formal job offer is extended.
Which departments or roles at Mass General Brigham are most likely to receive H-1B sponsorship?
Clinical medicine, biomedical research, data science in health informatics, and academic faculty positions are among the most common pathways for H-1B sponsorship at Mass General Brigham. The system's affiliation with Harvard Medical School means research and academic roles are particularly active. Allied health and administrative positions are less likely to qualify, as they may not meet the specialty occupation threshold required for H-1B approval.
What is the typical timeline for H-1B sponsorship at a large healthcare employer like Mass General Brigham?
From job offer to visa approval, the H-1B process at an employer like Mass General Brigham generally takes several months. The employer first files a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor, then submits the H-1B petition to USCIS. Standard processing can take three to six months. Premium processing is available to reduce USCIS adjudication to around 15 business days. Factor in credentialing and onboarding timelines unique to healthcare roles as well.
How do I find open roles at Mass General Brigham that are open to H-1B sponsorship?
Job postings don't always specify visa sponsorship availability, which makes targeting the right opportunities difficult. Migrate Mate tracks verified sponsorship history by employer, so you can browse Mass General Brigham roles with confidence that the organization actively sponsors H-1B visas. Filtering by employer and visa type saves time compared to applying broadly and following up individually on sponsorship eligibility.
Does Mass General Brigham sponsor Green Cards for employees on H-1B visas?
Some large healthcare employers do support employees through the Green Card process after an initial period on H-1B status, but this is not guaranteed and varies by role, department, and individual circumstances. Mass General Brigham's publicly available sponsorship data does not show significant Green Card filing activity in recent periods. If permanent residence support is important to you, it's worth raising this directly with the hiring team or HR during the offer stage.
