Frame your degree against specialty occupation
Waste management roles at Rumpke often sit in a gray zone for H-1B specialty occupation eligibility. Use O*NET to pull the occupation profile for your target role and confirm it requires a directly related bachelor's degree, then document that match explicitly in your application materials.
Target engineering and environmental technical roles
Rumpke's H-1B filings have concentrated in technically specialized positions rather than general operations. Focus your search on environmental engineering, environmental compliance, and systems roles where a specific degree field is a documented job requirement, not a preferred qualification.
Verify Rumpke's E-Verify enrollment before applying
H-1B sponsorship requires the employer to be enrolled in E-Verify for STEM OPT employers and is standard practice for active sponsors. Confirm Rumpke's enrollment status directly with HR during your initial conversation so you're not discovering gaps after an offer is extended.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm Rumpke's sponsorship history
Before investing heavily in your application, check Rumpke's actual H-1B filing history through Migrate Mate. Seeing which job titles and locations have received LCA certifications helps you target the right roles and approach the right hiring managers with confidence.
Negotiate offer timing around the H-1B cap deadline
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March for an October 1 start date. If Rumpke extends an offer outside that window, discuss whether they'll file for the next cycle or consider a cap-exempt pathway. Getting this agreed in writing before you resign from another role protects you.
Request the prevailing wage level Rumpke intends to file
The DOL requires employers to certify they'll pay at least the prevailing wage for your occupation and location. Before signing an offer, use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the Level I through Level IV wage range for your role in Rumpke's operating region and confirm your offered salary meets it.
Rumpke H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Rumpke sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Rumpke does sponsor H-1B visas, though sponsorship is selective and concentrated in roles that meet the specialty occupation standard, meaning positions that require a directly related bachelor's degree as a minimum. Environmental engineering, technical operations, and compliance roles are the most common pathways. General labor or non-technical positions are unlikely to qualify.
Which departments at Rumpke are most likely to offer H-1B sponsorship?
Engineering, environmental compliance, and technical services are the departments where H-1B sponsorship at Rumpke is most realistic. These functions involve roles with defined degree requirements in fields like environmental science or civil engineering. Corporate functions such as IT or finance can qualify too, but the specialty occupation case requires careful documentation of how the degree ties to the specific role.
How do I start the H-1B sponsorship process at Rumpke?
The process begins with Rumpke's HR and legal team filing a Labor Condition Application with the DOL, then submitting the H-1B petition to USCIS during the annual registration window in March. You'll need to work closely with their immigration counsel to document the specialty occupation requirement. Raise sponsorship willingness early in your interviews so there are no surprises at the offer stage.
How long does it take to get H-1B sponsorship through Rumpke?
From registration selection to an October 1 start date, the standard H-1B timeline runs approximately six months. If Rumpke files with premium processing, USCIS typically adjudicates the petition within 15 business days of receipt. Without premium processing, standard adjudication can take several months. Factor in the LCA certification period with DOL, which usually takes around seven business days, before the USCIS petition is filed.
How do I find open H-1B roles at Rumpke?
Migrate Mate lists roles at companies with verified H-1B filing history, including Rumpke, so you can filter specifically for positions where sponsorship has been documented. Cross-reference those listings with Rumpke's own careers page to confirm current openings. When you apply, flag your visa status early and ask directly whether the role is open to H-1B candidates before advancing through multiple interview rounds.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Rumpke?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
