Summary
The Vice President of Operations for Radiology serves as the strategic and operational leader overseeing all aspects of clinical imaging services within the health system. This executive provides overarching vision, leadership, and accountability for developing and implementing strategies that advance radiology operations, systems integration, and enterprise-wide initiatives. Working in close collaboration with both health system and departmental leadership, the role ensures alignment between clinical, administrative, and business functions. The position directly oversees leaders managing multiple imaging modalities—including CT, MRI, ultrasound, mammography, PET, nuclear medicine, and interventional radiology—and is responsible for coordinating strategy, operations, and business development across all inpatient, outpatient, adult, and pediatric imaging sites.
This role encompasses broad responsibility for planning, resource stewardship, quality assurance, and performance optimization across the radiology service line. The Vice President drives efficiency through data-informed planning, productivity monitoring, and process improvement initiatives that enhance care quality, patient experience, and operational effectiveness. The position also ensures compliance with regulatory and safety requirements, maintains fiscal discipline, and manages human and material resources. Through collaboration with physician leaders and quality officers, the role oversees patient care standards, fosters innovation, and designs strategies that expand services, strengthen market position, and unify imaging operations across the health system.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Provides vision, leadership, and direction for all imaging operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
- Leads operational planning, coordination, and oversight by implementing a structured system for short- and long-term strategic decision-making.
- Establishes and maintains performance measurement systems to monitor progress toward strategic goals; develops, executes, and adjusts initiatives as needed while evaluating outcomes against defined targets.
- Clearly communicates and operationalizes strategic plans so that employees, partners, and affiliates understand organizational objectives and their roles in achieving them.
- Partners with system leaders to evaluate growth opportunities and strengthen referral networks, fostering partnerships that support the development of an integrated health care system.
Operational Leadership
- Leads teams, committees, and collaborations with key stakeholders to design, implement, and evaluate operational processes that advance clinical and administrative excellence.
- Partners with direct reports and physician leaders to coordinate and direct staff in fulfilling clinical, operational, and support responsibilities across all imaging sites.
- Ensures that managers and supervisors effectively implement standardized clinical workflows, maintain patient care and equipment standards, and promote best practices and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Oversees staffing strategies, including collaboration with external partners and development of internal training and pipeline programs to ensure workforce readiness.
- Reviews and approves policies and procedures to ensure operational consistency and standardization across all locations.

- Works with leadership teams to assess imaging staff competencies, identify professional development needs. Approves and supports development initiatives that build skill, engagement, and performance.

- Directs financial management activities, setting and achieving financial targets that align with organizational goals.
- Develops, manages, and evaluates annual operating budgets, identifying causes of budget variances and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Provides centralized oversight and coordination of the Department of Radiology’s capital planning and budgeting processes.
- Builds a deep understanding of practice standards, resource requirements, and productivity expectations to support data-driven decision-making.
- Analyzes, interprets, and communicates financial, capital, and practice performance metrics to administrative and clinical leadership teams to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field. A master’s degree is preferred.

10+ years of experience in healthcare administration or operations, with a focus in care delivery, preferably in healthcare or hospital system. At least 5 years in senior/executive Radiology leadership.
