Align your specialty to open service lines
RWJBarnabas Health operates across multiple hospital campuses and specialty service lines in New Jersey. Research which facilities have active recruitment in your clinical area before applying. A targeted application to a specific campus strengthens your case for sponsorship consideration.
Verify your credentials meet New Jersey licensing requirements
New Jersey requires state licensure before most clinical roles can begin. Confirm your foreign medical or nursing credentials are evaluated and accepted by the relevant state board early. Delays in licensure can push back your H-1B start date and complicate your employer's petition timeline.
Confirm the role qualifies as a specialty occupation
Not every healthcare support role qualifies for H-1B sponsorship. Use O*NET to confirm your target job title requires a specific bachelor's degree or higher as a minimum entry requirement. Roles with flexible degree requirements can face USCIS scrutiny during adjudication.
Request written confirmation of sponsorship intent early
Before accepting an offer, ask HR directly whether the position includes H-1B sponsorship and who manages the filing. Large health systems often handle petitions through in-house immigration counsel. Getting this in writing before your start date prevents costly misunderstandings if personnel or budgets shift.
Use Migrate Mate to check RWJBarnabas Health's LCA filing history
LCA records show which job titles and locations RWJBarnabas Health has filed for under H-1B. Use Migrate Mate to search this data by role and facility before applying. It tells you whether your specialty has a documented sponsorship track record at this employer.
Benchmark your offer against DOL prevailing wage levels
H-1B regulations require your employer to pay at least the prevailing wage for your role and location. Run your job title and New Jersey work site through the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating. An offer below wage level one can trigger a DOL compliance issue that delays or blocks your petition.
RWJBarnabas Health H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does RWJBarnabas Health sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, RWJBarnabas Health sponsors H-1B visas for qualified clinical and healthcare professionals. Sponsorship is typically tied to positions where a specific degree in a clinical or scientific field is required. Availability depends on the role, facility, and current staffing needs across the New Jersey hospital network.
Which roles and departments typically receive H-1B sponsorship at RWJBarnabas Health?
Sponsorship is most common in physician, nursing, and allied health roles where specialized clinical training is required. Departments covering internal medicine, surgery, radiology, and behavioral health have historically recruited internationally trained professionals. Administrative or general support roles are less likely to qualify under H-1B specialty occupation standards set by USCIS.
How do I navigate the H-1B filing process at RWJBarnabas Health?
Once you receive an offer with confirmed sponsorship, RWJBarnabas Health's HR or in-house immigration team typically coordinates the Labor Condition Application filing with DOL and the I-129 petition with USCIS. Your role is to provide supporting documents including your degree transcripts, license verifications, and passport. Ask early whether premium processing is available for your petition.
How long does the H-1B process take at RWJBarnabas Health?
Standard H-1B processing through USCIS takes several months after the April cap lottery, with an October 1 start date for cap-subject petitions. If your role is cap-exempt through a qualifying nonprofit hospital affiliation, processing can begin at any point in the year. Premium processing through USCIS can reduce the adjudication window significantly once the petition is filed.
How do I find H-1B jobs at RWJBarnabas Health as an international applicant?
Migrate Mate aggregates H-1B sponsoring employers by industry and role, letting you filter for healthcare positions at health systems like RWJBarnabas Health. Cross-reference open postings with LCA filing data to confirm which roles have an active sponsorship track record. Apply directly through RWJBarnabas Health's careers portal and note your visa status clearly in your application.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at RWJBarnabas Health?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
