Job Roles at The RealReal
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in The RealReal H-1B Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target technical and engineering roles first
The RealReal's H-1B sponsorship is most consistent in software engineering, data science, and platform infrastructure. Focusing your search on these functions gives you the strongest chance of landing a role where sponsorship is an established part of hiring.
Understand the e-commerce technology stack
The RealReal operates a complex resale and authentication platform. Demonstrating fluency in the technologies that power e-commerce marketplaces, inventory systems, search, personalization, or payments, signals direct value and makes a sponsorship conversation easier to start.
Bring up sponsorship early in the recruiter screen
Ask directly whether the role is open to H-1B sponsorship during your first recruiter call. This saves both parties time and lets you gauge whether the hiring team has experience navigating the H-1B process for that specific department.
Use Migrate Mate to verify sponsorship history
Before applying, confirm The RealReal has actually sponsored H-1B visas for the role type you're targeting. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history rather than relying on job postings that may not reflect actual practice.
Prepare for the specialty occupation conversation
H-1B approval at any company, including The RealReal, requires demonstrating the role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Research how the job description maps to your degree field and be ready to articulate that connection clearly to HR and immigration counsel.
Engage early ahead of the H-1B lottery deadline
H-1B petitions must be filed in April for an October start date. If you're interviewing at The RealReal between January and March, make sure hiring timelines account for this window. Roles filled after April typically can't begin on H-1B until the following fiscal year.

Does The RealReal sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, The RealReal sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles. Sponsorship is most commonly available in technical functions such as software engineering, data science, and platform development. If you're applying for a non-technical role, it's worth asking the recruiter directly whether that specific position is eligible for sponsorship, as availability varies by department.
Which roles and departments at The RealReal are most likely to offer H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at The RealReal is concentrated in roles that require specialized technical expertise. Software engineers, data scientists, machine learning engineers, and backend platform developers are the most consistent candidates for sponsorship. Product and design roles may qualify depending on the position, but engineering and data functions represent the clearest path to an H-1B at the company.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at The RealReal?
Once you receive and accept an offer, The RealReal's HR and legal teams will coordinate with an immigration attorney to prepare your H-1B petition. You'll need to provide educational credentials, employment documents, and information supporting the specialty occupation classification. The employer handles filing fees and USCIS submission. Your primary role is responding promptly to document requests and keeping your attorney updated on any status changes.
How do I find out if a specific job posting at The RealReal includes H-1B sponsorship?
Job postings rarely state sponsorship eligibility explicitly. The most reliable approach is to ask during the recruiter screen before investing time in later interview rounds. You can also use Migrate Mate to research The RealReal's verified sponsorship history by role type, which helps you prioritize applications for positions where sponsorship has actually been granted before.
What timeline should I expect for H-1B sponsorship at The RealReal?
The H-1B process runs on a fixed federal calendar. Registrations open in March, the lottery runs in late March, and petitions for selected candidates must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date. If you're interviewing between January and April, align your offer and onboarding discussions around this window. Candidates who miss the April deadline typically must wait until the following fiscal year to begin on H-1B status.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at The RealReal?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
