The Hopper app has been downloaded over 120 million times and has become largely popular among younger travelers – with 70% of its users being Gen Z and millennials. While everyone knows us as the Gen Z and Millennial travel app, Hopper has evolved to become much more than that. In recent years, we’ve grown into a travel fintech provider, commerce platform, and global travel agency that powers some of the world’s largest brands. Through HTS, our B2B division, the company supercharges its partners’ direct channels by integrating our fintech products on their sites or powering end-to-end travel portals. Today, our partners include leading travel brands like Capital One, Nubank, Air Canada, and many more.
Here are just a few stats that demonstrate the company’s recent growth:
- Billions of dollars worth of travel and travel fintech are sold through Hopper and HTS’ channels every year.
- Our fintech products – including Cancel for Any Reason and Flight Disruption Assistance – have exceptionally strong CSAT because the terms are always clear, and customers receive instant, no-questions-asked resolutions.
- Almost 30% of our app customers purchase at least one fintech product when making a booking; and consumers are 1.6x more likely to repurchase if they add fintech to their booking vs if they booked just travel.
- Given the success of its fintech products, Hopper launched a B2B initiative, HTS (Hopper Technology Solutions), which represents more than 75% of the business.
- Through HTS, any travel provider (airlines, hotels, banks, travel agencies, etc.) can integrate and seamlessly distribute Hopper’s fintech or travel inventory on their direct channels. As its first HTS partnership, the company partnered with Capital One to co-develop Capital One Travel, a new travel portal designed specifically for cardholders. Other HTS partners include Air Canada, Uber, CommBank, Nubank, Flair Airlines and many more.

Frame your portfolio around travel tech problems
Hopper's product engineering work centers on fare prediction, dynamic pricing, and mobile-first booking flows. Tailor your portfolio to show systems you've built that handle real-time data pipelines, recommendation logic, or high-frequency consumer transactions before you apply.
Confirm sponsorship willingness before final interviews
Hopper sponsors H-1B and pursues Green Card pathways for engineering roles, but sponsorship intent can vary by team and headcount cycle. Raise it directly with the recruiter at the screening stage so you're not investing weeks in a process that stalls at offer.
Align your start date with H-1B cap timelines
If you need a cap-subject H-1B, USCIS registration opens in March and employment can begin October 1 at the earliest. When negotiating your offer with Hopper, build that gap into your proposed start date rather than leaving it ambiguous.
Prepare a degree equivalency letter early
Hopper's product engineering roles typically require a bachelor's in computer science or a related field. If your degree is from outside the U.S. or in a tangential discipline, get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before your offer letter arrives to avoid delays in the H-1B petition.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Hopper engineering roles
Hopper posts product engineering positions across multiple channels and hiring cycles. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Hopper roles that include visa sponsorship, so you're applying to active openings rather than outdated listings.
Understand how PERM affects your Green Card timeline
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship at Hopper requires PERM labor certification through the DOL, which can take a year or more before USCIS even receives your I-140 petition. Ask your hiring manager early whether the team has initiated PERM for this role category before.

Find Product Engineer at Hopper JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Hopper sponsor H-1B visas for Product Engineers?
Yes, Hopper sponsors H-1B visas for Product Engineer roles. Hopper operates as a registered employer and has filed H-1B petitions for engineering positions. If you're subject to the H-1B cap, your petition would be submitted in the annual March registration window, with work authorization beginning October 1 if selected. Confirming sponsorship with your recruiter at the screening stage is the most reliable way to avoid surprises later.
How do I apply for Product Engineer jobs at Hopper?
You can find and apply for Product Engineer roles at Hopper through their careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for Hopper openings that include visa sponsorship. Applications typically go through an initial recruiter screen, followed by technical assessments focused on systems design and coding, then team-specific interviews. Tailoring your application to Hopper's travel technology stack, particularly around data-intensive or mobile consumer products, strengthens your candidacy.
What visa types does Hopper use to sponsor Product Engineers?
Hopper sponsors H-1B visas for Product Engineers requiring nonimmigrant work authorization. For longer-term pathways, Hopper pursues EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship, which involves PERM labor certification through the DOL followed by an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. The appropriate visa type depends on your current status, country of birth, and where you are in the sponsorship process. Both pathways require the role to qualify as a specialty occupation.
What qualifications does Hopper expect for Product Engineer roles?
Hopper's Product Engineer roles generally require a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field, which is also the threshold for H-1B specialty occupation classification. In practice, strong candidates bring experience with high-scale consumer systems, mobile platforms, or data-driven product features. If your degree is from outside the U.S., a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator is needed to establish equivalency for the visa petition.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take at Hopper?
For cap-subject H-1B petitions, the full timeline from USCIS registration in March to the earliest work start date of October 1 is roughly six months. If premium processing is used, USCIS adjudicates the petition within 15 business days of filing, though the October 1 start date still applies. Cap-exempt candidates, such as those transferring from another H-1B employer, can start sooner. Build this timeline into your offer negotiation with Hopper before signing.
