About Imbue
Imbue is a radically different AI company.
We believe that data should belong to you, humans should come before technology, and everyone deserves to own a personal team of AI agents. We believe in a future of open agents that you can modify to do exactly what you want.
We’re building a suite of tools to make tech serve humanity, and making it open source.
Some first projects include
- mng: A command-line tool for managing agents
- Vet: A standalone tool that catches AI coding mistakes and reviews full PRs
- Offload: A tool that automatically distributes your tests to run in isolated sandboxes
- Latchkey: A command-line tool to integrate local agents with third-party APIs
- Darwinian Evolver: A near-universal optimizer for code and agents
And we’re just getting started. If you’re excited about building a future with open agents, say hi!
We're supported by investors like Nvidia, Simon Last (co-founder of Notion), and Eric Schmidt (former CEO of Google), with $200M raised at over $1B valuation.
About the Role
You’ll run our content engine and communications. The company’s narrative, blog, the social channels, email programs, public relations (with support of our PR agency), and the integrated campaigns that tie it all together. You’ll work in close partnership with our teams’ Head of Marketing, Brand Lead, and AI Developer Advocate to put Imbue in front of the people who matter most: builders and the AI community.
We have a lot of channels and they’re all active, including our cofounder’s own channels. Your job is to make them reach with a diligent system for building and distributing content. You’ll publish daily, ship campaigns weekly, and turn our drumbeat of launches into multi-channel arcs that compound in support of Imbue’s mission. You’ll also own the process that lets our founders, Kanjun and Josh, go direct on their personal channels. More mission-oriented and more often.
You’re a natural collaborator and big-picture brainstormer. You are familiar with some code and use AI agents hourly. You stay informed on AI through active dialogues on Twitter, tech newsletters, and developer events.
Our message is bold and worth fighting for: technology should be loyal to the user and aligned with human goals. Your job is to amplify it where developers and builders gather.
Run the content engine and integrate campaigns
- Own our content programs end-to-end. Blogs, essays, threads, video scripts, landing pages, email sequences, launch posts, manifestos.
- Tie content together in thoughtfully executed and integrated campaigns, from product launches to mission moments to community building.
- Pull short-form mission moments out of long-form thinking from our cofounders. Turn their essays into threads. Turn interviews into clips. Turn product evolutions into stories devs want to read.
- Build a publishing rhythm we can maintain. Daily on social. Weekly on the blog and email. Always something in flight.
- Build and run a simple, centralized content calendar that connects the dots of what we ship with company-wide visibility.
- Translate technical depth into copy that reads like a friend told you, not a press release.
Drive communications
- Be the comms point for press, podcasts, conferences, and analyst conversations. We work with a PR agency already, so we need your voice to help lead the work.
- Build relationships with the writers, podcasters, and creators shaping the AI conversation.
- Shape launch communications across product, research, and the broader team. Make sure every release lands with the right narrative in the right places.
- Help us find and measure what works, big and small.
Activate our founders
- Build and run the system that puts cofounders Kanjun and Josh on their personal channels. Ghostwrite or edit, and prompt for X, LinkedIn, podcasts, and longer essays.
- Make it easy for them to go direct without breaking flow. Capture voice notes, surface ideas, draft, and publish.
- Treat cofounder channels and Imbue’s owned channels as a shared system. Coordinate timing, sequence, and amplification.
You are someone who
- Lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area!
- Has 5+ years across content, communications, and integrated campaigns. Bonus if you’ve been a founding marketer or first content or comms hire at a developer or AI company.
- Writes. You think in posts, threads, and headlines. Your drafts are tighter than most peoples’ finals.
- Has ghostwritten for a founder or executive before and knows how to capture a voice.
- Familiar with and can use code. You’ve built something with AI agents. You know what a PR review feels like and have a few preferred tools for your own IDE.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $120,000–$200,000
- Company paid medical, dental, and vision for you and your dependents
- $250 lifestyle stipend per month
- Flexible PTO
- Lunch provided daily for onsite employees
- Support for self-improvement: coaching, courses, and conferences
- Company offsites. Past locations include NYC, Santa Cruz, Hawai’i, and Tokyo.
- Frequent team events, dinners, and fun activities
How to apply
All submissions are reviewed by a person, so we encourage you to include notes on why you're interested in working with us. If you have any other work that you can showcase (open source code, side projects, etc.), certainly include it! We know that talent comes from many backgrounds, and we aim to build a team with diverse skillsets that spike strongly in different areas.
We try to reply either way within a week or two at most (usually much sooner).

Lead with your research credentials
Imbue hires for deep technical and scientific work. When applying, front-load your research background, publications, or advanced degree, these signal the kind of specialty occupation profile that supports H-1B sponsorship most effectively at research-focused organizations.
Target roles that align with H-1B specialty occupation criteria
Imbue's sponsorship activity centers on roles requiring specialized expertise. Focus on positions in machine learning research, AI systems, or engineering where your degree directly matches the job, this is what makes an H-1B petition viable for a company this size.
Understand F-1 OPT and CPT pathways at research companies
Imbue supports F-1 OPT and CPT, which is useful for students and recent graduates. If you're on OPT, engaging with Imbue early gives time to align your work authorization window with their H-1B sponsorship process before your status expires.
Expect a rigorous technical evaluation
As a science and research company, Imbue's hiring bar is high and process-intensive. Prepare for multiple technical interviews focused on problem-solving depth. Demonstrating genuine research ability matters far more than visa status for clearing their evaluation pipeline.
Find verified sponsoring employers before you apply
Smaller research organizations like Imbue aren't always easy to identify as sponsors without data. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and confirm Imbue's eligibility before investing time in the application.
Time your application around H-1B cap deadlines
If you need cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, the USCIS registration window opens in March each year. Start conversations with Imbue's recruiting team well before then, research companies often need lead time to prepare petitions for first-time H-1B candidates.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Imbue sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Imbue sponsors H-1B visas. Their sponsorship activity is focused on technical and research-oriented roles where candidates hold specialized degrees and expertise. If you're targeting Imbue on an H-1B, your background should align closely with their AI safety and systems research work to make a strong case for specialty occupation classification.
Which visa types does Imbue sponsor?
Imbue sponsors H-1B visas along with F-1 OPT and F-1 CPT for students and recent graduates. They do not have a track record of Green Card or E-3 visa sponsorship based on available data. Most visa activity is concentrated in research and engineering roles that meet the H-1B specialty occupation standard.
What kinds of roles at Imbue are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Visa sponsorship at Imbue tends to follow their core hiring areas: machine learning research, AI systems engineering, and adjacent technical disciplines. These roles require advanced degrees or equivalent specialized training, which aligns with H-1B and F-1 eligibility requirements. Operational or generalist roles are less commonly sponsored at companies of this profile.
How do I apply for a job at Imbue as an international candidate?
Start by confirming Imbue's current open roles and sponsorship status using Migrate Mate, which tracks verified sponsorship history so you know what you're walking into. When you apply, be upfront about your visa type and timeline. Imbue's process is technically rigorous, so prepare thoroughly before reaching the offer stage, where sponsorship is typically confirmed.
How do I know if Imbue is actively hiring sponsored roles right now?
Imbue's hiring volume is relatively focused given their size as a research organization, so open roles with sponsorship aren't always listed broadly. Migrate Mate tracks verified sponsoring employers and surfaces active listings, making it easier to monitor when Imbue posts positions that align with your visa type and background without relying on generic job searches.
