Position Overview
We are seeking a driven and strategic Regional Sales Manager to expand direct business across the western United States. This role is ideal for a high-performing sales professional who thrives on building relationships, closing complex deals, and driving growth within the intelligent transportation systems (ITS) space. The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of technical understanding, industry knowledge, and consultative sales experience, with the ability to identify opportunities and deliver solutions that advance transportation technology.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Account Management:
- Drive new business development while managing and expanding existing customer relationships
- Build strong partnerships with distributors to enhance sales performance and achieve revenue targets
- Identify and pursue opportunities to expand market presence across the region
Client Engagement & Solution Selling:
- Develop deep product knowledge and effectively position solutions to municipal, county, and state transportation agencies, as well as consulting firms
- Deliver compelling presentations and product demonstrations in collaboration with technical teams
- Identify customer needs and recommend solutions that provide measurable value
Strategic Sales Execution:
- Develop and execute strategies for major pursuits, including proposals, bids, and quotations
- Collaborate closely with technical sales, proposal, operations, and product teams to deliver high-quality RFP responses
- Manage the full sales cycle from opportunity identification through contract execution
Market Presence & Industry Engagement:
- Represent the organization at trade shows, conferences, and industry events
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies
Pipeline Management & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records, including pipeline activity, meeting notes, and project details
- Track performance metrics, analyze sales data, and provide insights to support business decisions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 10+ years of business development or sales experience, preferably within ITS, transportation, or technology-driven solutions
- Proven track record of successfully selling ITS, traffic signal systems, and/or ATMS software solutions within the U.S. market
- Strong understanding of technology trends, product development cycles, and solution-based selling
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Strong negotiation and closing abilities
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and highly collaborative
- Ability to work cross-functionally with technical and operational teams
- Experience analyzing sales performance, KPIs, and market trends
