Verify Your NCLEX and Licensure Timeline Early
Mass General Brigham requires an active Massachusetts RN license before your start date. NCLEX scheduling, credential evaluation through CGFNS, and state board processing can take months, so confirm your licensure status is on track before accepting any offer.
Target Units With Recurring Vacancy Patterns
Inpatient med-surg, ICU, and oncology floors at MGB hospitals post Clinical Nurse openings consistently. Prioritize applications to these units over specialty roles with narrower pipelines, since high-volume wards are where H-1B sponsorship conversations happen most routinely.
Confirm Sponsorship Eligibility Before the Offer Stage
Ask the recruiter directly whether the specific role and unit are approved for H-1B sponsorship. Some positions are budget-coded as non-sponsorship-eligible even within a system that sponsors broadly, and finding out after verbal offer wastes critical time.
Understand the H-1B Cap and MGB Filing Cycles
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March each year for an October 1 start. If you miss selection, MGB can file cap-exempt if you previously held H-1B status, so clarify your history with HR before assuming you need to wait for the next lottery.
Search Open Clinical Nurse Roles Through Migrate Mate
Finding which MGB facilities and units currently have open Clinical Nurse positions that include sponsorship is the first practical step. Use Migrate Mate to filter active listings by employer and role so you're applying to verified openings, not outdated postings.
Prepare Your Credentials Package Before Interviewing
MGB's HR and immigration team will need your nursing diploma, CGFNS credential evaluation, NCLEX results, and prior visa documentation to begin an H-1B petition. Having a complete package ready at offer stage shortens your filing timeline by several weeks.

Find Clinical Nurse at Mass General Brigham JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Mass General Brigham sponsor H-1B visas for Clinical Nurses?
Yes. Mass General Brigham has a documented track record of H-1B sponsorship for Clinical Nurse roles across its network, which includes Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women's, and affiliated community hospitals. Sponsorship eligibility varies by unit and budget allocation, so confirming directly with the recruiter at the point of offer is the most reliable way to avoid surprises.
Which visa types are commonly used for Clinical Nurse roles at Mass General Brigham?
The H-1B is the primary work visa used for Clinical Nurses at MGB, as nursing qualifies as a specialty occupation when the role requires a BSN or higher. Some internationally trained nurses also enter on TN status if they hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship and meet the qualifying degree requirements. Green Card sponsorship through the EB-3 category is a longer-term pathway some nurses pursue after establishing employment.
What qualifications and experience does Mass General Brigham expect for Clinical Nurse roles?
Most Clinical Nurse postings at MGB require a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), an active Massachusetts RN license, and BLS certification at minimum. Critical care and specialty units typically expect one to two years of relevant clinical experience. International applicants should also have a CGFNS credential evaluation completed, as MGB's HR team uses this to verify foreign nursing credentials during the sponsorship documentation process.
How do I apply for Clinical Nurse jobs at Mass General Brigham?
You can browse and apply for Clinical Nurse openings at Mass General Brigham directly through Migrate Mate, which aggregates verified sponsorship-eligible listings so you can identify relevant roles without manually searching multiple hospital career portals. When you apply, clearly note your visa status and authorization needs in the application. Tailor your resume to the specific unit and patient population listed in the job description rather than submitting a generic application across all openings.
How do I understand the H-1B filing timeline for a Clinical Nurse role at Mass General Brigham?
USCIS runs the H-1B lottery registration in March each year, with approved petitions taking effect October 1. If you receive an offer from MGB, your employer's immigration counsel will need several weeks to prepare the petition after your credentials are verified. If you're already in valid H-1B status from a prior employer, MGB can file a transfer petition at any point in the year, which is faster and avoids the lottery entirely.
