Align your credentials with clinical operations requirements
Mass General Brigham's Service Specialist roles often require familiarity with electronic health record systems and patient workflow processes. Before applying, document any Epic, Cerner, or healthcare operations experience explicitly in your resume to match their internal screening criteria.
Target postings tied to specific hospital sites
Mass General Brigham operates across multiple affiliated hospitals and outpatient centers. Roles posted at Massachusetts General Hospital or Brigham and Women's often have more established sponsorship infrastructure than postings at smaller affiliate sites, so filter your search accordingly.
Confirm the role qualifies as a specialty occupation
USCIS requires H-1B roles to meet the specialty occupation standard, meaning a bachelor's degree in a specific field must be a minimum requirement. For Service Specialist positions, verify the job posting explicitly states a degree requirement before assuming sponsorship is straightforward.
Initiate sponsorship conversations before the H-1B lottery window
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March each year with an April 1 cap-subject start date. If you're targeting a role that requires cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, your employer needs to register you weeks before that window. Start the conversation with HR no later than January.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Service Specialist roles
Browsing general job boards makes it hard to filter specifically for visa-sponsoring healthcare employers. Use Migrate Mate to find Service Specialist openings at Mass General Brigham where H-1B sponsorship is part of the hiring process, so you're not applying blind.
Request a written sponsorship commitment before accepting an offer
Healthcare systems sometimes distinguish between roles where sponsorship is budgeted and roles where it requires additional approval. Before signing an offer, ask Mass General Brigham's HR team to confirm in writing that the specific role includes H-1B filing support and attorney coverage.

Find Service Specialist at Mass General Brigham JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Mass General Brigham sponsor H-1B visas for Service Specialists?
Yes, Mass General Brigham sponsors H-1B visas for Service Specialist roles. As a large academic health system, it has an established immigration process and works with legal counsel to file petitions for qualifying candidates. The key requirement is that the role meets USCIS's specialty occupation standard, which typically means the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field.
How do I apply for Service Specialist jobs at Mass General Brigham?
Applications go through Mass General Brigham's careers portal at brighamandwomens.org or massgeneral.org, depending on the affiliate site posting the role. You can also find Service Specialist openings with confirmed visa sponsorship through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for H-1B-sponsoring employers. Tailor your application to highlight any healthcare operations, patient services, or EHR system experience relevant to the posting.
Which visa types does Mass General Brigham commonly use for Service Specialist roles?
The H-1B is the primary visa category Mass General Brigham uses for Service Specialist positions. Candidates already holding H-1B status with another employer can transfer to Mass General Brigham, often starting work as soon as the transfer petition is filed rather than waiting for approval. For roles requiring a Green Card pathway, employer-sponsored PERM labor certification through the DOL is the typical route after several years of H-1B employment.
What qualifications does Mass General Brigham expect for Service Specialist roles?
Expectations vary by department, but most Service Specialist postings at Mass General Brigham require a bachelor's degree, strong communication skills, and experience in a healthcare, administrative, or patient-services environment. Familiarity with electronic health record platforms such as Epic is frequently listed as preferred. Roles in specific clinical or research departments may require domain-specific credentials in addition to general operations experience.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship to start at Mass General Brigham?
If you need a new cap-subject H-1B, USCIS registration opens in March and work authorization under a selected petition begins October 1 at the earliest. Build that gap into your job search timeline. If you're transferring an existing H-1B from another employer, the wait is shorter because you can typically start once Mass General Brigham files the transfer petition, often within a few weeks of your offer acceptance.
