Obtain field service certifications before applying
Stryker's Service Specialist roles favor candidates with biomedical equipment technician credentials or OEM-specific training. Certifications like CBET signal hands-on technical readiness and reduce employer hesitation around sponsoring candidates who still need on-the-job ramp time.
Target Stryker's largest service territory hubs
Service Specialist openings cluster around major metropolitan hospital markets where Stryker holds strong device contracts. Prioritizing postings in those regions improves your odds of landing a role tied to a dedicated territory with headcount approval already in place.
Align your degree field to the role description
H-1B eligibility for Service Specialist positions requires a specialty occupation nexus. A degree in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field makes the USCIS specialty occupation determination straightforward and reduces petition risk for your employer.
Clarify sponsorship intent in your recruiter conversation
Stryker recruits through both direct applications and regional recruiters. Ask explicitly whether the open role is approved for visa sponsorship before the hiring manager round. Some territories have contractor-to-hire structures that do not support H-1B filing.
Use Migrate Mate to filter live Stryker openings by visa type
Stryker posts Service Specialist roles across many locations simultaneously, and sponsorship eligibility varies by position. Migrate Mate lets you filter Stryker's active postings by the visa categories you hold so you only spend time on roles that are a genuine fit.
Confirm PERM timing if you need a Green Card path
Service Specialist is typically an EB-3 eligible role at Stryker. Ask your hiring contact whether the company files PERM concurrently with or after your initial H-1B approval, since DOL processing timelines mean earlier filing significantly reduces your wait for permanent residence.

Find Service Specialist at Stryker JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Stryker sponsor H-1B visas for Service Specialists?
Yes, Stryker sponsors H-1B visas for Service Specialist roles when the position meets USCIS specialty occupation requirements. Candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or a directly related field are best positioned. Sponsorship availability can vary by territory and whether the role is filled through direct hire versus a contracted staffing arrangement, so confirm with the recruiter early in the process.
Which visa types are commonly used for Service Specialist roles at Stryker?
Service Specialist candidates at Stryker most commonly use the H-1B visa for initial work authorization. F-1 OPT and CPT holders can join in a training capacity before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under the TN visa in relevant engineering categories. Stryker also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for employees who progress into permanent positions, with PERM labor certification filed through the DOL.
How do I apply for Service Specialist jobs at Stryker?
Applications go through Stryker's careers portal, where Service Specialist postings are listed by region and product division. You can also browse and filter Stryker's open Service Specialist roles by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which surfaces only the positions relevant to your work authorization status. Before applying, confirm the posting is a direct hire role rather than a contract position, as only direct hires typically support visa sponsorship.
What qualifications does Stryker expect for Service Specialist candidates?
Stryker's Service Specialist roles require a combination of formal technical education and hands-on equipment experience. A bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering, electronics, or a related discipline is the typical baseline for visa-sponsored hires. Practical experience servicing medical imaging, surgical, or endoscopy equipment is strongly preferred. Field service backgrounds at other medical device companies or hospital biomedical departments translate well, and certifications like CBET strengthen your application considerably.
How do I time my H-1B filing if I receive a Stryker offer on OPT?
If you're on F-1 OPT, Stryker would file your H-1B petition during the annual registration window in March for an October 1 start date. If your OPT expires before October 1 and you have a STEM extension, the 60-day cap-gap provision under USCIS rules covers the gap between OPT expiration and your H-1B start date. Confirm your OPT end date and STEM extension eligibility before accepting an offer so Stryker's immigration counsel can plan the filing timeline accurately.
