Position Summary:
As a Biomedical Services Specialist at DaVita, you’ll be a part of a Team that values work-life balance and where your personal and professional growth is a top priority.
DaVita has an open position for a Biomedical Services Specialist who keeps our life-giving dialysis treatments "up and running" every day in our clinics! Do you love repairing engines or other types of machines in your free time? Are you the person your friends and family turn to when something is broken? Do you thrive in a demanding environment? Does the thought of having fun at work make you want to know more? If you answered "yes" to these questions, you could play a vital role as one of DaVita's clinic guardians. Now is your time to explore your next journey at DaVita.
What you can expect:
- Be a part of a Team that appreciates, supports and relies on each other in a positive environment.
- Performance-based rewards based on stellar individual and team contributions.
What we'll provide:
DaVita is a clinical leader! We have the highest percentage of facilities meeting or exceeding CMS's standards in the government's two key performance programs. We expect our nurses to commit to improving patient health through clinical goal-setting and quality improvement initiatives.
Comprehensive benefits:
- DaVita offers a competitive total rewards package to connect teammates to what matters most.
- We offer medical, dental, vision, 401k match, paid time off, PTO cash out, paid training and more.
- DaVita provides the opportunities for support for you and your family with family resources, EAP counseling sessions, access to Headspace®, backup child, elder care, maternity/paternity leave, pet insurance and so much more!
Requirements
- A high school diploma - Did you graduate from high school? Great! Did you graduate from a trade school/college biomed or electronics technology program? Even better! That type of education would support you well in this position.
- A skilled electro-mechanical equipment technician - The best candidates will have performed this type of work at some point in the past, or have a demonstrated aptitude for it.
- Great communications skills - DaVita teammates communicate openly, honestly and frequently with each other. You'll need to be a master at this.
- Solid computer skills - Our teammates regularly use MS Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook), the internet, and DaVita-specific applications to perform their work. We'll train you on the DaVita tools, but you'll need to come into the job with solid internet navigation and MS Office skills.
- A valid driver's license - Our Biomed Techs typically need to drive their own automobiles to get from one clinic to another. You'll need a valid driver's license within the state you are applying for work, as well as valid automobile insurance and an acceptable driving record.
- Available for on-call rotations - We're a healthcare provider, and sometimes our clinics and patients have needs late at night, on the weekends, and even during the wee hours of the morning. As a Biomed team, we are committed to meeting those needs, no matter what time the request comes in. We'll ask you to share in this commitment by taking an on-call rotation once in a while.
- Close proximity - Our biomed technicians should reside fairly close to the clinics that they support, so they can provide adequate emergency response coverage. Your recruiter will discuss the clinic geography with you.
- Full vaccination against COVID-19 may be required by hospitals in this program, which may include a booster when eligible.
Now is your time to join Team DaVita. Take the first step and apply now.

Align Your Credentials to Healthcare Service Standards
DaVita Service Specialists work in clinical support environments where certifications in patient care, medical equipment, or dialysis-specific training carry real weight. Verify that any foreign credentials are translated and evaluated by a NACES-approved agency before you apply.
Target DaVita Locations with Active Hiring
DaVita operates hundreds of dialysis centers across the U.S., and Service Specialist openings cluster around high-patient-volume markets. Search by metro area rather than company-wide to find facilities actively filling roles rather than managing general interest pipelines.
Confirm OPT or CPT Eligibility Before Applying
If you're on an F-1 visa, DaVita accepts both OPT and CPT for Service Specialist roles. Make sure your authorization period covers the expected start date and leaves enough runway for DaVita's onboarding timeline, which can run several weeks for healthcare positions.
Ask About H-1B Filing Timelines During Offer Negotiations
The H-1B cap registration window opens in March, and USCIS requires the petition to be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start. If you receive an offer outside that window, clarify with DaVita's HR team whether a cap-exempt filing or a start-date adjustment is feasible.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Open Roles by Visa Type
Browse verified Service Specialist openings at DaVita filtered by the visa categories they support. Migrate Mate surfaces roles where sponsorship is confirmed, so you're not spending time on applications that won't move forward for candidates needing work authorization.
Understand How PERM Timing Affects Green Card Planning
DaVita sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for eligible employees, but PERM labor certification requires the employer to run a full recruitment process before DOL filing. Factor a multi-year timeline into your planning if permanent residency is your goal alongside this role.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does DaVita sponsor H-1B visas for Service Specialists?
Yes, DaVita sponsors H-1B visas for Service Specialist roles. Because the H-1B is subject to the annual cap, timing matters. USCIS registration opens each March for an October 1 start date, so if your offer arrives outside that window, you'll want to discuss alternative arrangements or a deferred start date with DaVita's HR or immigration team directly.
How do I apply for Service Specialist jobs at DaVita?
Apply directly through DaVita's careers portal or find open roles on Migrate Mate, which lists verified DaVita Service Specialist positions filtered by visa sponsorship availability. When you apply, be upfront about your visa status and authorization needs in the application. DaVita's recruiting team handles sponsorship questions early in the process, so transparency from the start avoids delays.
Which visa types does DaVita commonly use for Service Specialist roles?
DaVita sponsors H-1B, TN visa, and F-1 OPT and CPT for Service Specialist positions, and supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for longer-term employees. TN visa is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupational categories. F-1 CPT or OPT are common entry points for recent graduates before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship.
What qualifications does DaVita expect for Service Specialist candidates?
DaVita typically looks for candidates with a background in healthcare support, patient services, or dialysis-related clinical environments. Familiarity with medical equipment operation, patient-facing communication, and compliance with healthcare regulations is valued. Some roles require specific certifications depending on the dialysis center's state licensing requirements, so reviewing the job description for location-specific requirements is important.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a DaVita Service Specialist role?
Timeline depends on the visa type. H-1B petitions filed under standard processing take three to six months after the April 1 filing date, with an October 1 start. Premium processing can reduce USCIS adjudication to 15 business days, though DaVita controls whether that option is exercised. TN status for Canadians can be granted at the port of entry on the same day, making it the fastest path for eligible nationals.
