Get Your Credentials Evaluated Before Applying
If your nursing degree is from outside the U.S., you'll need a credential evaluation report before UF's HR team can assess your qualifications. Use NACES-member evaluators and request a course-by-course analysis, not just a degree equivalency.
Target UF Health Departments with Recurring Openings
UF's academic medical system runs multiple clinical sites across Gainesville and Jacksonville. Clinical nursing vacancies cluster in inpatient, perioperative, and specialty care units. Applying directly to high-turnover units shortens the time between application and offer.
Browse Open Clinical Nurse Roles on Migrate Mate
Filter for Clinical Nurse openings at University of Florida on Migrate Mate to see current visa-sponsored positions in one place. It saves you the work of cross-checking individual listings to identify which roles are open to international candidates.
Ask HR About PERM Timing at the Offer Stage
For EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, UF must run a PERM labor certification through DOL before filing your immigrant petition. Ask during the offer conversation whether UF initiates PERM for Clinical Nurse roles, since timelines vary by department and backlog position.
Request Cap-Exempt H-1B Filing if You're Already in Status
UF qualifies as a cap-exempt H-1B employer because it's a nonprofit affiliated with a higher education institution. If you already hold H-1B status elsewhere, UF can file your transfer petition outside the annual lottery window, meaning no April deadline pressure.

Find Clinical Nurse at University of Florida JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does University of Florida sponsor H-1B visas for Clinical Nurses?
Yes. As a nonprofit university affiliated with a higher education institution, UF qualifies as a cap-exempt H-1B employer. That means it can file H-1B petitions year-round without waiting for the annual lottery. Clinical Nurse roles qualify as specialty occupations when the position requires a nursing degree, making them eligible for H-1B sponsorship through USCIS.
How do I apply for Clinical Nurse jobs at University of Florida?
Applications go through UF's central jobs portal at jobs.ufl.edu. Search for Clinical Nurse or RN roles and apply through the listing. Once you receive an offer, UF's HR and immigration teams handle the sponsorship filing process. You can also browse currently open Clinical Nurse positions at UF that are open to sponsored candidates through Migrate Mate.
Which visa types does University of Florida commonly use for Clinical Nurse roles?
UF sponsors H-1B, TN, E-3, J-1, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT for Clinical Nurse positions, as well as employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. TN applies to Canadian and Mexican nurses under specific occupational criteria. E-3 is available to Australian citizens. The right visa depends on your nationality, current status, and the role's classification.
What qualifications does University of Florida expect for Clinical Nurse candidates?
UF generally requires an active Florida RN license or documented eligibility, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) for most clinical roles, and relevant clinical experience in the applicable specialty. Foreign-educated nurses must submit a credential evaluation from a NACES-recognized organization. Some specialty units also require BLS or ACLS certification before the start date.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Clinical Nurse at UF?
For H-1B transfers or cap-exempt filings, USCIS standard processing runs three to six months, with premium processing available for a faster decision. For employment-based Green Card sponsorship via PERM, the DOL labor certification process alone typically takes one to two years before the immigrant petition is filed, depending on current backlogs.
