Align your certifications to hospital requirements
Mass General Brigham Service Tech roles often require HTM or biomedical equipment certifications. Confirm your credentials map to CBET, CRES, or facility-specific standards before applying, as these directly affect whether your role qualifies as a specialty occupation under H-1B criteria.
Target postings tied to specific campuses
Mass General Brigham operates across multiple hospital sites including MGH and Brigham and Women's. Service Tech openings vary by campus and equipment scope, so filtering by location helps you match your technical background to the most relevant requisition and hiring team.
Request the Labor Condition Application timeline early
Your employer files the LCA with the DOL before submitting the H-1B petition to USCIS. Ask your recruiter or HR contact upfront when they plan to initiate the LCA, since delays here push back your entire start date, especially if your OPT or current status has a hard expiration.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Service Tech roles
Browsing visa-sponsoring employers by role type saves significant research time. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for Service Tech positions at healthcare employers like Mass General Brigham, so you can prioritize applications where sponsorship is already part of the hiring process.
Prepare documentation showing degree-to-role alignment
USCIS scrutinizes whether Service Tech positions truly require a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Gather transcripts, coursework descriptions, and any professional evaluations that clearly connect your engineering or biomedical degree to the technical scope of the role being offered.
Clarify whether the role is cap-subject or cap-exempt
Mass General Brigham is affiliated with research and teaching institutions, which can make certain positions cap-exempt under H-1B rules. Confirm with HR whether your specific role qualifies, since cap-exempt status means USCIS can process the petition outside the annual lottery window.

Find Service Tech at Mass General Brigham JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Mass General Brigham sponsor H-1B visas for Service Techs?
Yes, Mass General Brigham sponsors H-1B visas for Service Tech positions. The company has a documented history of filing H-1B petitions for technical and biomedical roles within its hospital network. Sponsorship is not automatic with every offer, so confirming the position's eligibility during the interview process is the right move before accepting.
Which visa types are commonly used for Service Tech roles at Mass General Brigham?
The H-1B is the most common visa pathway for Service Tech roles at Mass General Brigham, as these positions typically require specialized engineering or biomedical training that meets the specialty occupation standard. Candidates already holding an O-1 or TN visa may also find these roles compatible, depending on their nationality and the specific technical scope of the position.
How do I apply for Service Tech jobs at Mass General Brigham?
Applications go through Mass General Brigham's careers portal, where you can filter by department and job function. Migrate Mate also aggregates open Service Tech positions at Mass General Brigham in one place, letting you identify roles where visa sponsorship is part of the hiring process before you apply. Tailor your resume to highlight equipment-specific experience and any HTM or biomedical certifications relevant to the role.
What qualifications does Mass General Brigham expect for Service Tech candidates?
Most Service Tech roles at Mass General Brigham require a degree in biomedical engineering, electronics, or a closely related technical field, along with hands-on experience servicing clinical or diagnostic equipment. Certifications such as CBET are often listed as preferred or required. Demonstrating experience with the specific equipment categories used at academic medical centers, such as imaging systems or patient monitoring devices, strengthens your application considerably.
How do I manage timing between my visa status and a Service Tech offer from Mass General Brigham?
If you're on OPT, the 60-day grace period after your end date gives you limited runway, so starting conversations with HR about the H-1B filing timeline as soon as you receive an offer is critical. Mass General Brigham's affiliation with research institutions may allow cap-exempt filings through USCIS, which removes the April lottery constraint and lets the petition proceed year-round once the DOL certifies the LCA.
