Job Summary:

Fitters must read blueprints, cut/thread/weld pipes. The role requires strong safety awareness, mechanical skill, and the ability to work in confined spaces or at heights.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect the workplace, clear obstructions, and prepare materials and equipment.
• Study blueprints and plan pipe systems and related equipment installations.
• Use a variety of tools to modify pipes to specifications.
• Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
• Assemble and weld pipe components and systems.
• Secure pipes to walls and fixtures using brackets, clamps, and welding equipment.
• Repair and maintain pipe systems, supports, and related equipment.
• Comply with relevant codes and regulatory standards.

Competencies

• Blueprint reading
• Knowledge of tape measure and standard measurements
• Ability to perform degree finding
• Ability to divide circumference of welds
• Knowledge of overhead cranes and hand signals
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills in safe rigging practices
• Must be able to adhere to standards and perform a quality job in a safe manner within an acceptable time.
• Physical requirements include bending, squatting, climbing, stooping, twisting, and reaching, standing for long periods of time, lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. May be required to work at heights up to 25 feet.

Education/Experience:

2-5 years relevant work experience
