Align Your Certifications to NetApp's Stack
NetApp's IT environment runs heavily on ONTAP, cloud infrastructure, and hybrid storage systems. Certifications like CompTIA Network+, ITIL, or vendor-specific credentials signal you can support their environment from day one, strengthening your petition.
Target Roles That Match Your Visa Category
NetApp sponsors H-1B, TN, and Green Card pathways, but eligibility depends on role classification. IT Support positions requiring a bachelor's degree in a relevant field qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS rules, so confirm your role's job description explicitly lists that requirement before applying.
Search Open Positions Through Migrate Mate
Filter IT Support openings at NetApp by visa type on Migrate Mate to see which roles align with your sponsorship situation. This saves time compared to manually cross-referencing job postings with sponsorship history.
Ask About PERM Timing During Offer Negotiations
If you're targeting a Green Card through NetApp, PERM labor certification timelines at DOL currently run long. Ask your recruiter early whether the role has an established PERM pathway or if that process starts fresh after hire.
Prepare Your OPT Documentation Before Interviews
If you're on F-1 OPT, have your EAD card, I-20, and SEVIS records organized before your first recruiter screen. NetApp's HR teams move quickly through offer stages, and delays in E-Verify clearance can compress your start date window.
Clarify Cap-Gap Coverage If Your OPT Expires Mid-Process
F-1 students whose OPT expires while an H-1B petition is pending are covered by cap-gap protection under USCIS rules. Confirm with NetApp's HR that they're filing before April 1 so your authorization remains continuous through the October 1 start date.

Find IT Support at NetApp JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does NetApp sponsor H-1B visas for IT Support roles?
Yes, NetApp sponsors H-1B visas for IT Support positions that qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS guidelines. To qualify, the role needs to require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, such as information technology, computer science, or a related discipline. Confirm the specific job posting lists a degree requirement before applying, as support roles vary in how they're classified.
Which visa types does NetApp commonly sponsor for IT Support positions?
NetApp sponsors H-1B visas for degree-holding IT Support professionals, F-1 OPT for recent graduates already authorized to work, TN visas for qualifying Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible occupations, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card pathways for longer-term employees. The right category depends on your nationality, degree field, and where you are in your immigration journey.
What qualifications does NetApp expect for IT Support roles?
Most IT Support roles at NetApp expect a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, combined with hands-on experience in enterprise environments. Familiarity with ticketing systems, networking fundamentals, and cloud-adjacent infrastructure is common. For visa sponsorship purposes, the degree requirement is not just a preference but a legal necessity under USCIS specialty occupation standards.
How do I apply for IT Support jobs at NetApp?
You can find IT Support openings at NetApp filtered by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which makes it easier to identify roles aligned with your authorization status. Once you find a match, apply directly through NetApp's careers portal. Tailor your resume to reflect enterprise support experience and infrastructure familiarity relevant to NetApp's hybrid cloud environment.
How do I manage timing between my visa status and a NetApp offer?
Timing varies by visa type. H-1B candidates hired outside the lottery cycle typically start October 1, so offers made in Q1 involve a significant gap. OPT holders need to confirm their EAD expiration date and whether cap-gap applies. TN visa holders can often start within weeks of an offer. Clarify expected start dates and USCIS filing timelines with NetApp HR before accepting.
