About Neuralink:
We are creating devices that enable a bi-directional interface with the brain. These devices allow us to restore movement to the paralyzed, restore sight to the blind, and revolutionize how humans interact with their digital world.
Team Description:
Join the Brain Interfaces Software Team and be part of a team of remarkable and driven engineers accelerating our pathway to human ready brain-computer interfaces. We are a small, but fast-moving team that collaborates with other exceptional teams of mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers.
Neuralink strives to be, as much as possible, a meritocratic environment: we require honest and transparent communication to ensure the best ideas win out, and we believe the best solutions emerge and the best teams are created when you assemble high-performing individuals and allow them to engage in rigorous and thoughtful inquiry. We want to work with exceptional people, and, to the extent that you excel, we want you to take on more responsibility and help all of us succeed. If this speaks to you, come join us.
Job Description & Responsibilities:
We are looking for a versatile Software Engineer who is passionate about architecting and implementing elegant software solutions and thrives with autonomy to propose creative approaches to problems. You will be responsible for writing software to interact with Neuralink's implant, as well as building systems for manufacturing and testing the device. Additionally, you will be expected to:
- Develop and improve Neuralink's implant manufacturing line acceptance software and station
- Develop and improve Neuralink's implant design verification testing software
- Optimize and maintain Neuralink's implant software build infrastructure
- Develop and improve Neuralink's implant SDK
Required Qualifications:
- Fluent in Python and at least one system language including Rust, C++, and C (don't get hung up on this—being an exceptional software engineer matters above all)
- Experience and proficiency with Linux/Unix systems
- Evidence of exceptional ability in engineering, mathematics, or computer science
- Solid understanding of engineering first principles
- Strong intuition for what matters in a production system vs. research-grade environments
Additional Requirements and Competencies:
- You find large challenges exciting and enjoy discovering and defining problems as much as solving them
- You deliver; you may enjoy thoughtful conversations about problems and perfecting design, but in the end, you know that what matters is delivering reliable solutions (Our ultimate aim is to help people; the "right" solution doesn't always achieve that)
- You are mission-driven and goal-oriented in your approach to solving problems
- You feel a sense of urgency to get things done sooner rather than later—because there is so much we, as people, can contribute to the world and accomplish in this life, it's a shame to waste time
- You are resourceful, flexible, and adaptable; no task is too big or too small
What We Offer:
Full-time employees are eligible for the following benefits listed below.
- An opportunity to change the world and work with some of the smartest and most talented experts from different fields
- Growth potential; we rapidly advance team members who have an outsized impact
- Excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance through a PPO plan
- Paid holidays
- Commuter benefits
- Meals provided
- Equity (RSUs) Temporary Employees & Interns excluded
- 401(k) plan Interns initially excluded until they work 1,000 hours
- Parental leave Temporary Employees & Interns excluded
- Flexible time off Temporary Employees & Interns excluded

Tailor your resume to embedded and safety-critical work
Neuralink's Software Engineer roles emphasize real-time systems, firmware, and hardware-software interfaces. Highlight experience with low-latency or safety-critical software on your resume before applying, since generalist software backgrounds rarely clear their technical screens.
Verify your visa type matches Neuralink's sponsorship scope
Neuralink sponsors several nonimmigrant categories, but not every visa type fits every role. Before you apply, confirm that your specific status, whether F-1 OPT, TN, E-3, or H-1B, aligns with the position level and employment start date the team is hiring for.
Time your F-1 OPT application around Neuralink's hiring cycles
F-1 students can file for OPT up to 90 days before their program end date. If you're targeting a Neuralink new-grad role, align your USCIS filing timeline so your EAD card arrives before your intended start date, not after.
Understand the H-1B cap and petition window before accepting an offer
If you need H-1B sponsorship, USCIS accepts registrations only in March for an October 1 start. Confirm with your Neuralink recruiter early in the offer process whether your timeline requires cap-exempt status or a cap-season filing.
Search Neuralink Software Engineer roles on Migrate Mate
Neuralink's open Software Engineer positions are filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate, so you can browse roles that match your sponsorship situation directly rather than sifting through listings that don't apply to you.
Prepare for a multi-stage technical process with domain depth
Neuralink's engineering interviews for software roles test systems programming, concurrency, and often neuroscience-adjacent problem domains. Arriving with demonstrated knowledge of embedded Linux, C++, or signal processing strengthens your case significantly beyond standard LeetCode preparation.

Find Software Engineer at Neuralink JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Neuralink sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers?
Yes, Neuralink sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineer roles. Because the H-1B is subject to the annual USCIS lottery, your eligibility depends on where you are in your visa history. Cap-exempt candidates, such as those transferring from another H-1B employer, can start sooner. Cap-subject candidates need to register in March for an October 1 start date.
Which visa types does Neuralink commonly sponsor for Software Engineer roles?
Neuralink sponsors a broad range of visa categories for Software Engineers, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students, J-1, and EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Cards. The right fit depends on your nationality, current status, and the seniority level of the role you're targeting.
What qualifications does Neuralink expect from Software Engineer candidates?
Neuralink's Software Engineer roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, electrical engineering, or a closely related field. Practically, the team prioritizes hands-on experience with real-time systems, embedded development, or hardware-software integration. Roles in neurotechnology often expect familiarity with signal processing, low-level programming, or safety-critical software environments.
How do I apply for Software Engineer jobs at Neuralink?
You can browse current Software Engineer openings at Neuralink filtered by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which makes it straightforward to identify roles that match your status. Once you identify a role, apply directly through Neuralink's careers portal with a resume that highlights systems programming experience and any domain knowledge relevant to neurotechnology or embedded development.
How do I plan my visa timeline when pursuing a Software Engineer offer at Neuralink?
The answer depends on your visa category. F-1 OPT requires filing with USCIS up to 90 days before graduation and takes roughly three to five months to process, so plan early. H-1B cap-subject candidates face a fixed October 1 start date. E-3 and TN holders can typically start within weeks of an approved petition or border crossing, making those pathways faster for an immediate hire.
