The Deputy Chief of Staff (DCoS) is a strategic leader and high-level administrator tasked with translating institutional vision into operational reality. Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff and VP of Finance and Administration, the DCoS acts as a primary surrogate and force multiplier, ensuring that the College’s strategic initiatives are executed with precision, fiscal responsibility, and narrative clarity.
The central purpose of this role is to bridge the gap between high-level policy and day-to-day execution. By weaving together strategic project management, executive-level communications, and high-impact event planning, the DCoS ensures that New College’s administrative goals are not only met but are clearly communicated to internal and external stakeholders. This position is essential for maintaining institutional momentum, fostering collaboration across departments, and protecting the executive office’s priorities in a fast-paced, evolving academic environment.

Research, analyze, and synthesize data to provide the Chief of Staff with brief, actionable recommendations for complex organizational decisions.

Oversee strategic communications for the Office of the President ensuring a consistent and authoritative tone.

Assist in the development of response strategies for sensitive campus issues or emergency management scenarios.

Oversee the planning and execution of events that require precision and a high level of hospitality.

Represent the Chief of Staff and VP of Finance and Administration in high-level meetings and committees in their absence.

Audit and refine administrative processes within the President's and VP’s offices to maximize efficiency and reduce operational friction.

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and eight (8) years of appropriate experience. Related successful experiences may substitute for education.
Preferred Qualifications
A Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six (6) years of appropriate experience.
