Target engineering and product roles first
OpenTable's sponsorship activity is concentrated in technical disciplines. Software engineers, product managers, and data professionals are the most likely candidates for H-1B and Green Card sponsorship, so focus your application efforts on those departments.
Understand the dual visa pathway
OpenTable sponsors both H-1B and employment-based Green Cards. If long-term U.S. residency is your goal, ask recruiters early whether the role has a history of leading to Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 categories.
Apply well before H-1B cap season
The H-1B lottery runs once a year with an April 1 filing deadline. Targeting OpenTable roles in the October to January window gives you the best chance of being in a petition if selected, as employers need lead time to prepare filings.
Highlight hospitality-tech domain knowledge
OpenTable operates at the intersection of SaaS and the restaurant industry. Candidates who can demonstrate familiarity with reservation systems, marketplace platforms, or consumer-facing products stand out and are stronger sponsorship candidates.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm sponsorship-eligible openings
Not every OpenTable job listing specifies visa sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and focus only on roles where international candidates are actively considered.
Prepare for a structured technical interview process
OpenTable follows a multi-stage hiring process common in mid-sized tech companies, including technical screens and system design rounds. Moving quickly through early stages improves your chances of securing a role before H-1B petition deadlines.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does OpenTable sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, OpenTable sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles, primarily in software engineering, product, and technical functions. Sponsorship is not offered across every department, so candidates should confirm eligibility with the recruiter early in the process. OpenTable has a consistent track record as an H-1B sponsor within the Technology & Software sector.
What types of visas does OpenTable sponsor?
OpenTable sponsors H-1B visas for temporary work authorization and employment-based Green Cards, typically through the EB-2 or EB-3 preference categories, for longer-term permanent residence. Both pathways are most common in technical and product roles. The company does not have a track record of sponsoring E-3 visas, so Australian nationals should confirm this directly with the hiring team.
Which roles at OpenTable are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at OpenTable is concentrated in technical disciplines such as software engineering, data science, and product management. These roles align with the company's core SaaS and marketplace operations. Candidates in non-technical functions like marketing or operations are less likely to be considered for sponsorship and should clarify this upfront during recruiter conversations.
How do I find OpenTable jobs that are open to visa sponsorship?
Not all OpenTable job listings explicitly state whether sponsorship is available. Migrate Mate aggregates verified sponsorship data so you can identify roles at OpenTable where international candidates have historically been sponsored. This saves time and ensures you're applying to positions where visa support is a realistic outcome rather than an afterthought.
How do I time my application to OpenTable around the H-1B process?
The H-1B cap lottery occurs once a year, with petitions filed around April 1. To have your petition included, you'll need a job offer and completed paperwork before that window opens. Applying to OpenTable between October and January gives the hiring process enough runway for offer, onboarding, and petition preparation before the filing deadline.
