INTRODUCTION
We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London and Amsterdam.
DPX sits within the org that builds the infrastructure powering the Plaid network, including managing the critical surfaces and lifecycles for the financial institutions that power the ecosystem. DPX is responsible for everything from initial onboarding, to API integration, and long-term sustainability, ensuring that every partner has a seamless, high-quality experience that translates into value for millions of end users in the Plaid network.
Our work directly impacts Plaid's data quality, partner satisfaction, and the speed at which new institutions come online. We're a small, high-impact team with ambitious goals: 20x growth in partner adoption, 10x faster onboarding, and proactive alerting across all partner types.
As the Engineering Manager for DPX, you'll lead a team of engineers building the products and platform that data partners use to manage their integrations with Plaid. The role requires a blend of technical depth, strategic thinking, and cross-functional leadership to scale partner-facing products from early-stage concepts to industry-leading infrastructure.
This is a role where you'll have significant autonomy: you're the dedicated EM for DPX, reporting to the Eng Lead for the entire org.
Responsibilities:
- Own technical execution and delivery for the DPX roadmap, including the Data Partner Dashboard, onboarding redesign, health monitoring, and migration tooling.
- Manage and grow a team of engineers across multiple locations.
- Partner with PM and cross-functional teams (Solutions Engineering, Data Partnerships, Data Partner Support) to align on priorities and unblock execution.
- Drive engineering quality: code reviews, design reviews, architectural decisions, reliability standards.
- Hire and develop engineers.
- Establish team processes and norms.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of engineering experience, with 1.5 to 2 years managing engineering teams.
- Experience shipping customer-facing or partner-facing products.
- Strong systems design and architectural judgment.
- Track record of growing engineers and building team culture.
- Excellent communication skills, especially with non-engineering partners.
- Bonus: experience with API platforms, developer tooling, fintech, or partner ecosystems.
Our mission at Plaid is to unlock financial freedom for everyone. To support that mission, we seek to build a diverse team of driven individuals who care deeply about making the financial ecosystem more equitable. We recognize that strong qualifications can come from both prior work experiences and lived experiences. We encourage you to apply to a role even if your experience doesn't fully match the job description. We are always looking for team members that will bring something unique to Plaid!
Plaid is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and values diversity at our company. We do not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, ethnicity, religion or religious belief, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, transgender status, sexual stereotypes, age, military or veteran status, disability, or other applicable legally protected characteristics. We also consider qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with applicable federal, state, and local laws. Plaid is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities in our recruiting process. Frame your data credentials around financial infrastructure
Plaid's Data Contributor roles focus on financial data quality and pipeline integrity, not general analytics. Tailor your resume to highlight experience with data validation, API data flows, or financial data standards rather than broad BI or reporting work.
Target roles where your degree field aligns directly
H-1B specialty occupation approval depends on a direct connection between your degree field and the role. For Data Contributor positions, degrees in computer science, statistics, or information systems carry the clearest alignment. A mismatch here is one of the most common petition complications.
Understand where PERM fits your long-term plan
If Plaid is sponsoring EB-2 or EB-3 for this role, a PERM labor certification through DOL is the first step. That process takes six months to over a year before an I-140 petition is even filed, so raise green card sponsorship intentions in the offer negotiation stage, not after you start.
Use Migrate Mate to identify active Data Contributor openings
Plaid's open Data Contributor roles can shift quickly with product cycles. Use Migrate Mate to filter for current openings at Plaid that explicitly support visa sponsorship, so you're applying to live roles rather than listings that have quietly closed or changed scope.
Clarify cap-subject status before your H-1B filing window
If Plaid files your H-1B as a cap-subject petition, registration opens each March for an October 1 start date. Missing that window means waiting a full year. Confirm your start date flexibility with your recruiter before signing an offer that assumes immediate or mid-year authorization.

Find Data Contributor at Plaid JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Plaid sponsor H-1B visas for Data Contributors?
Yes, Plaid sponsors H-1B visas for Data Contributor roles. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given its technical requirements in data engineering or data quality systems. If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, Plaid can file an H-1B transfer, which lets you start working as soon as USCIS receives the petition, without waiting for approval.
How do I apply for Data Contributor jobs at Plaid?
Apply directly through Plaid's careers page or find currently open, sponsorship-confirmed listings on Migrate Mate. Tailor your application to highlight experience with financial data pipelines, data validation workflows, or large-scale data quality systems. Plaid's hiring process for technical data roles typically includes a technical screen, a structured data assessment, and multiple rounds with the data or platform team.
Which visa types are commonly used for Data Contributor roles at Plaid?
Plaid sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for Data Contributor roles. F-1 students in computer science, statistics, or engineering programs are frequently eligible for STEM OPT, which extends work authorization to 36 months and gives employers a longer runway before an H-1B filing becomes necessary.
What qualifications and experience does Plaid look for in Data Contributors?
Plaid looks for candidates with a strong background in data pipeline development, data quality assurance, or financial data systems. Practical experience with tools like Python, SQL, Spark, or Airflow is common across these roles. A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, data science, statistics, or a related technical field is typically expected and also supports H-1B specialty occupation classification.
How do I plan my timeline if Plaid is filing an H-1B for me?
If you're not already on an H-1B, Plaid would need to enter you in the USCIS H-1B lottery, which opens each March for an October 1 start date. If selected, your petition is filed by June. Premium processing through USCIS can shorten adjudication to a few weeks. Build at least six to eight months of lead time into any offer negotiation that depends on a new H-1B cap-subject filing.
