INTRODUCTION
We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London and Amsterdam.
DPX sits within the org that builds the infrastructure powering the Plaid network, including managing the critical surfaces and lifecycles for the financial institutions that power the ecosystem. DPX is responsible for everything from initial onboarding, to API integration, and long-term sustainability, ensuring that every partner has a seamless, high-quality experience that translates into value for millions of end users in the Plaid network.
Our work directly impacts Plaid's data quality, partner satisfaction, and the speed at which new institutions come online. We're a small, high-impact team with ambitious goals: 20x growth in partner adoption, 10x faster onboarding, and proactive alerting across all partner types.
As the Engineering Manager for DPX, you'll lead a team of engineers building the products and platform that data partners use to manage their integrations with Plaid. The role requires a blend of technical depth, strategic thinking, and cross-functional leadership to scale partner-facing products from early-stage concepts to industry-leading infrastructure.
This is a role where you'll have significant autonomy: you're the dedicated EM for DPX, reporting to the Eng Lead for the entire org.
Responsibilities:
- Own technical execution and delivery for the DPX roadmap, including the Data Partner Dashboard, onboarding redesign, health monitoring, and migration tooling.
- Manage and grow a team of engineers across multiple locations.
- Partner with PM and cross-functional teams (Solutions Engineering, Data Partnerships, Data Partner Support) to align on priorities and unblock execution.
- Drive engineering quality: code reviews, design reviews, architectural decisions, reliability standards.
- Hire and develop engineers.
- Establish team processes and norms.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of engineering experience, with 1.5 to 2 years managing engineering teams.
- Experience shipping customer-facing or partner-facing products.
- Strong systems design and architectural judgment.
- Track record of growing engineers and building team culture.
- Excellent communication skills, especially with non-engineering partners.
- Bonus: experience with API platforms, developer tooling, fintech, or partner ecosystems.
Our mission at Plaid is to unlock financial freedom for everyone. To support that mission, we seek to build a diverse team of driven individuals who care deeply about making the financial ecosystem more equitable. We recognize that strong qualifications can come from both prior work experiences and lived experiences. We encourage you to apply to a role even if your experience doesn't fully match the job description. We are always looking for team members that will bring something unique to Plaid!
Plaid is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and values diversity at our company. We do not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, ethnicity, religion or religious belief, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, transgender status, sexual stereotypes, age, military or veteran status, disability, or other applicable legally protected characteristics. Align your portfolio with Plaid's stack
Plaid's engineering roles center on API infrastructure, data pipelines, and financial integrations. Before applying, build or showcase projects involving RESTful APIs, distributed systems, or fintech data flows so your experience maps directly to their posted requirements.
Get your OPT or CPT paperwork ready early
If you're on F-1 status, your SEVP portal record and DSO authorization letter need to be current before an offer can move forward. Delays in OPT card issuance from USCIS can push your start date, so apply through your DSO at least 90 days out.
Prepare for a technical interview process spanning multiple rounds
Plaid's engineering interviews typically include a system design round alongside coding assessments. Prepare for distributed system design questions specifically, since their infrastructure handles high-volume financial data, and sponsorship discussions usually begin only after you clear the full loop.
Clarify the PERM timeline before accepting an offer
If your long-term path requires an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card, ask during the offer stage whether Plaid initiates PERM after a set employment period. DOL PERM processing currently runs over a year, so knowing when the clock starts matters for your planning.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active openings

Find Engineering at Plaid JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Plaid sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Plaid sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying engineering roles. The role must meet USCIS specialty occupation standards, which for engineering positions typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related technical field. Plaid files both cap-subject H-1B petitions and supports transfers for candidates already holding H-1B status with another employer.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Plaid?
Applications go through Plaid's careers portal, where engineering roles are listed by team and level. You'll typically complete an initial recruiter screen, a technical phone interview, and a multi-round loop covering coding and system design. Migrate Mate aggregates Plaid's open engineering positions with sponsorship tags, so you can identify the right role before applying directly through Plaid's site.
Which visa types does Plaid commonly sponsor for Engineering roles?
Plaid sponsors H-1B visas as the primary work authorization pathway for engineering hires. The company also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students transitioning from academic programs, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering occupations, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa petitions for longer-term permanent residence sponsorship.
What qualifications does Plaid expect for sponsored Engineering positions?
Plaid's engineering roles generally require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related technical field. For mid to senior-level positions, hands-on experience with distributed systems, API design, or data infrastructure carries significant weight. The degree field matters for H-1B specialty occupation compliance, so a direct match between your credentials and the role's technical scope strengthens the petition.
How do I time my H-1B sponsorship with Plaid's hiring process?
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed once per year, with USCIS accepting registrations in March for an October 1 start date. If you clear Plaid's interview process outside that window, the company can often structure your start date around OPT or a cap-exempt transfer if you already hold H-1B status. Confirming your current visa status and expiration date with the recruiting team early prevents timeline mismatches later.
