Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Welder Jobs at Prometric Jobs
Document Your AWS Certifications Before Applying
Prometric's facilities team expects demonstrable trade credentials. Gather your AWS welding certifications, inspection records, and any OSHA safety training completions before submitting applications, as these validate your specialty occupation standing during visa petition review.
Target Prometric's Facilities and Maintenance Postings
Prometric hires Welders under facilities and operations functions, not always under a generic trades category. Search for postings tied to testing center maintenance or physical plant support to find roles where visa sponsorship is most consistently extended.
Clarify Sponsorship Willingness During the Interview
Before the offer stage, ask the hiring manager directly whether the specific Welder role is approved for H-1B or TN sponsorship. Education-sector employers sometimes restrict sponsorship to certain cost centers, so confirming early avoids late-stage complications.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Verified Sponsoring Roles
Not every Welder posting at Prometric will specify visa sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to surface roles where Prometric has an active sponsorship track record, saving you time and targeting your applications more precisely.
Align Your Start Date With LCA Processing Timelines
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition to USCIS. Account for at least two to four weeks for LCA certification when negotiating your proposed start date with Prometric's HR team.
Verify Your F-1 OPT STEM Extension Eligibility Early
Welding roles under an education-sector employer like Prometric may qualify for STEM OPT extension if your degree program is classified under an eligible CIP code. Confirm with your DSO before accepting an offer, since USCIS requires the extension application be filed before your initial OPT expires.

Find Welder at Prometric JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Prometric sponsor H-1B visas for Welders?
Yes, Prometric has sponsored H-1B visas for Welder roles. Sponsorship is handled through Prometric's facilities and operations hiring pipeline rather than corporate functions, so the process depends on the specific role's cost center approval. Confirm with the recruiter during the interview that the posted Welder position is eligible for H-1B sponsorship before proceeding to the offer stage.
How do I apply for Welder jobs at Prometric?
Apply through Prometric's careers portal, searching under facilities, operations, or maintenance categories where Welder postings are listed. You can also browse verified Welder openings at Prometric with confirmed sponsorship history on Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa type so you can focus on positions that match your immigration status.
Which visa types are commonly used for Welder roles at Prometric?
Prometric has sponsored Welders on H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose welding credentials meet USMCA trade category requirements. F-1 CPT and OPT are typically used by students or recent graduates completing practical training in skilled trades programs. H-1B remains the primary long-term sponsorship pathway.
What qualifications and experience does Prometric expect for Welder roles?
Prometric's Welder openings typically require hands-on experience with MIG, TIG, or arc welding processes relevant to facility maintenance and equipment repair. AWS certifications strengthen your application and are often referenced in job descriptions. OSHA safety training and the ability to interpret technical drawings are commonly expected. Roles supporting testing center infrastructure may also require security clearance eligibility.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Welder position at Prometric?
For H-1B sponsorship, Prometric must first obtain a certified Labor Condition Application from the DOL, which takes two to four weeks, before filing the I-129 petition with USCIS. Standard USCIS processing runs three to six months. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at a port of entry the same day with proper documentation, making it a faster path if you qualify.
