Target roles in audit and tax first
RSM's core service lines, audit, tax, and advisory, are where the vast majority of sponsored roles sit. Focusing your search on these practice areas gives you the strongest chance of landing a position with a real sponsorship pathway.
Understand which visas RSM actively uses
RSM sponsors H-1B and Green Card (EB-2 and EB-3) visas, as well as F-1 OPT and TN. Knowing this upfront helps you assess your own eligibility and have an informed conversation with recruiters early in the process.
Apply before the H-1B registration window closes
RSM participates in the H-1B lottery each spring. If you're targeting an H-1B, time your application and interviews to ensure an offer is in place before the March registration period, missing it means waiting a full year.
Highlight CPA progress and technical credentials
RSM places significant weight on professional credentials. Demonstrating active progress toward your CPA, or relevant certifications in advisory or technology consulting, signals long-term value and strengthens the case for sponsorship investment.
Consider RSM's mid-market positioning as an advantage
RSM focuses on middle-market clients, which means less internal competition than Big Four firms and faster visibility with hiring managers. This structure can work in your favor as an international candidate seeking sponsorship in a specific practice area.
Filter for verified sponsorship history before applying
Knowing a firm has sponsored before matters, but confirmed, up-to-date sponsorship data matters more. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and apply to RSM roles with confidence.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does RSM sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, RSM sponsors H-1B visas. The firm has a strong track record of H-1B sponsorship across its audit, tax, and advisory practice lines, making it one of the more active sponsors in the public accounting sector. If you're currently on F-1 OPT, RSM also sponsors the OPT-to-H-1B visa transition, which is a common pathway for candidates who join through campus recruiting.
Which visa types does RSM sponsor?
RSM sponsors H-1B visas for specialty occupation roles, Green Cards through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based categories for longer-tenure employees, F-1 OPT for students and recent graduates, and TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional roles. The mix reflects RSM's broad international hiring across its core service lines.
Which roles and departments at RSM are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at RSM is concentrated in its core practice areas: audit and assurance, tax, and advisory services including technology consulting and risk advisory. Staff accountant, senior associate, and manager-level roles in these departments account for the bulk of sponsored positions. Roles requiring a CPA or technical degree in accounting, finance, or information systems tend to qualify most readily for H-1B sponsorship under the specialty occupation standard.
How do I time my application to RSM around the H-1B lottery?
USCIS opens H-1B registration in early March each year, with selections made shortly after. To be included, you need a valid employer registration, meaning an offer and a filed petition. Targeting RSM interviews in the fall or winter for a start date the following October gives recruiters enough runway to complete the process before the registration deadline. Missing the March window means your earliest possible H-1B start date would shift a full year.
How do I find open roles at RSM that offer visa sponsorship?
The most reliable approach is to search specifically for RSM on a platform that tracks real sponsorship history rather than self-reported claims. Migrate Mate lists RSM roles filtered by verified visa sponsorship data, so you can see which positions are actively being hired for and confirm sponsorship before investing time in an application. Pair that with direct outreach to RSM campus recruiters if you're a student or recent graduate.
