Frame your credentials around clinical operations
Select Medical's Center Managers are expected to handle staffing, compliance, and patient outcome metrics simultaneously. Before applying, document specific examples of P&L oversight or clinical quality improvements to match what their hiring panels prioritize.
Target outpatient rehabilitation center openings
Select Medical operates a large network of outpatient physical and occupational therapy centers. Roles tied to that division tend to have more consistent hiring volume, so filtering your search to outpatient or specialty rehab locations improves your odds of landing a sponsorship-eligible position.
Confirm LCA filing before accepting any offer
Before signing an offer letter, verify that your employer has filed a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL. This step must precede your H-1B petition, and any delay there pushes back your start date regardless of how quickly USCIS processes the I-129.
Ask HR directly about PERM eligibility timelines
If your goal is a Green Card through EB-2 or EB-3, ask during the offer stage whether Select Medical initiates PERM for Center Managers and at what point in tenure. Starting that conversation early prevents you from losing years of priority date progress.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active Center Manager openings
Not all of Select Medical's Center Manager postings are easy to find across general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for visa-sponsoring healthcare employers and identify which locations are actively hiring for this role right now.
Account for H-1B cap timing in your job search
H-1B petitions are subject to an annual lottery with a cap registration window in March. If you receive an offer outside that window, negotiate a start date aligned with the next October 1 effective date to avoid gaps in your authorized work status.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Select Medical sponsor H-1B visas for Center Managers?
Yes, Select Medical has sponsored H-1B visas for Center Manager roles. These positions typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards given the combination of clinical knowledge and operational management required. If you're in active H-1B status, a transfer petition is generally faster than a new cap-subject filing, so clarify with HR whether your situation qualifies for a cap-exempt transfer.
Which visa types are commonly used for Center Manager roles at Select Medical?
H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant visa for Center Manager positions at Select Medical, given the degree requirements tied to healthcare operations management. For longer-term pathways, Select Medical has also pursued EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for qualified managers. The right category depends on your educational background, country of birth, and how long you plan to remain in the role.
What qualifications and experience does Select Medical expect for Center Manager roles?
Select Medical typically looks for candidates with a clinical background, often in physical therapy, occupational therapy, or a related health sciences field, combined with demonstrated supervisory or operational experience. A bachelor's degree at minimum is standard, though many posted roles prefer or require a graduate degree. Prior experience managing a healthcare facility, handling insurance billing workflows, or leading clinical teams is a meaningful differentiator.
How do I apply for Center Manager jobs at Select Medical?
You can find Center Manager openings at Select Medical through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for visa-sponsoring healthcare employers so you're not sorting through postings that won't support sponsorship. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect both clinical competency and operational metrics, since Select Medical's hiring process for this role typically involves multi-round interviews with both regional operations leaders and clinical directors.
How do I manage my visa status during the hiring and onboarding process at Select Medical?
If you're on OPT or a STEM OPT extension, make sure your Employment Authorization Document reflects your current employer before your start date. If you're transitioning from another H-1B employer, Select Medical's HR team will need to file a transfer petition, and you can begin work as soon as USCIS receives it, without waiting for approval. Build a buffer of at least 30 days between your last day elsewhere and your intended start date to absorb any processing delays.
