Align Your Credentials to U.S. Medical Physics Standards
USCIS requires Physics roles to qualify as specialty occupations. If your degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation confirming equivalency to a U.S. bachelor's or higher in physics or a directly related field before applying.
Target Select Medical's Rehabilitation Hospital Network
Select Medical operates across specialty and rehabilitation hospitals, not traditional academic medical centers. Physics openings here tend to support clinical imaging or radiation therapy functions, so tailor your application to those care settings rather than research-focused experience.
Confirm Board Certification Readiness Before Interviews
Clinical medical physics roles in healthcare facilities like Select Medical frequently require or expect ABR board eligibility. Arriving at an interview without a clear certification timeline can stall the offer stage, which directly delays any sponsorship conversation.
Initiate the Sponsorship Conversation During Offer Negotiations
Once you reach the offer stage, ask explicitly whether the position is approved for H-1B sponsorship. Select Medical processes sponsorship through its HR and legal teams, so the hiring manager alone rarely has a definitive answer and you'll need confirmation from the right internal contact.
Account for DOL Labor Condition Application Lead Time
Before USCIS can process your H-1B petition, your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL. Build at least two to three weeks into your timeline for this step alone, especially if your start date aligns with a facility's fiscal or licensing cycle.
Browse Open Physics Roles Through Migrate Mate
Identifying which specific Select Medical facilities are actively hiring for Physics positions saves significant time. Use Migrate Mate to filter open Physics roles at Select Medical and surface locations most likely to have active headcount and sponsorship capacity.

Does Select Medical sponsor H-1B visas for Physicists?
Yes, Select Medical sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Physics roles. Sponsorship is not automatic for every position, so you'll need to confirm during the offer stage that the specific role and facility have approved headcount for an H-1B petition. Roles requiring specialized clinical physics training are the most likely candidates for sponsorship approval.
How do I apply for Physics jobs at Select Medical?
Start by identifying active Physics openings at Select Medical through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles with visa sponsorship context. When applying, tailor your resume to clinical physics functions relevant to specialty or rehabilitation hospital settings. After submitting, expect a multi-stage process including technical screening and credentialing verification before any offer discussion occurs.
Which visa types does Select Medical commonly use for Physics roles?
Select Medical primarily sponsors H-1B visas for Physics positions, which covers specialty occupation roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. For candidates pursuing permanent residency, employer-sponsored Green Card pathways through EB-2 or EB-3 classifications are also available, typically initiated after you've established a track record in the role.
What qualifications does Select Medical expect for Physics positions?
Physics roles at Select Medical in a clinical healthcare setting typically require a graduate-level degree in medical physics or a closely related discipline. ABR board eligibility or certification is commonly expected for clinical positions. Hands-on experience in diagnostic imaging, radiation therapy, or rehabilitation-adjacent physics applications is more relevant here than purely research or academic backgrounds.
How do I plan my timeline around H-1B filing for a Select Medical Physics role?
If you're subject to the H-1B cap, the annual lottery registration window opens in March and employment can begin no earlier than October 1 of that year. Cap-exempt scenarios may allow faster start dates. Factor in DOL Labor Condition Application processing and USCIS petition review on top of Select Medical's internal offer and credentialing timeline, which can add several weeks before a petition is even filed.
