Secure your NCLEX and credential evaluation first
Select Medical expects nurses to hold an active U.S. RN license before a petition moves forward. Complete your CGFNS credential evaluation and pass the NCLEX in the state where the role is posted before approaching Select Medical's recruiting team.
Target Select Medical's long-term acute care facilities
Select Medical's LTAC hospitals regularly post RN openings with defined shift structures and specialty units. These facilities tend to have more predictable staffing needs than outpatient clinics, which makes them more likely to initiate sponsorship for the right candidate.
Clarify sponsorship intent during your first recruiter call
Ask directly whether the specific facility can initiate an H-1B or begin PERM labor certification for your role. Sponsorship decisions at Select Medical are often made at the facility level, not corporate, so confirming early saves you from a lengthy process that stalls at approval.
Understand the EB-3 timeline before you accept an offer
EB-3 green card processing through PERM can take several years depending on your country of birth and the current priority date backlog. If you're already in the U.S. on H-1B status, confirm whether Select Medical will maintain your H-1B extensions while the EB-3 petition is pending.
Use Migrate Mate to find open RN roles at Select Medical
Browsing by employer and role type on Migrate Mate lets you surface Select Medical RN postings filtered by visa sponsorship history, so you're only spending time on facilities with a real track record of sponsoring nurses rather than guessing from a generic job board.
Align your specialty certifications with posted unit requirements
Select Medical's rehabilitation and critical care units frequently require certifications like CCRN or ARN. Having the relevant certification documented before your application signals you're ready to work without a prolonged onboarding period, which strengthens the case for sponsorship.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Select Medical sponsor H-1B visas for Registered Nurses?
Yes, Select Medical does sponsor H-1B visas for Registered Nurses. Sponsorship decisions are typically made at the individual facility level rather than company-wide, so your best path is to confirm directly with the recruiter assigned to your specific posting. Having your NCLEX license and credential evaluation completed before that conversation significantly improves your position.
Which visa types does Select Medical commonly use for Registered Nurse roles?
Select Medical sponsors both H-1B nonimmigrant visas and employment-based Green Card pathways, primarily EB-2 and EB-3, for Registered Nurses. The H-1B is the more common starting point for nurses already in the U.S. or entering from abroad. EB-3 labor certification through the PERM process is typically initiated after you've established yourself in the role.
How do I apply for Registered Nurse jobs at Select Medical?
Applications go through Select Medical's careers portal, where you can filter by role and location. For sponsored roles specifically, Migrate Mate aggregates Select Medical's RN postings and surfaces positions with documented visa sponsorship history, so you can prioritize facilities that have actively sponsored nurses before reaching out to a recruiter.
What qualifications does Select Medical expect from Registered Nurse applicants seeking sponsorship?
Select Medical expects an active RN license in the state where the position is located, which for international nurses means passing the NCLEX after completing a CGFNS or equivalent credential evaluation. Most postings also require at least one year of clinical experience. Specialty units, including critical care and rehabilitation, often list additional certifications such as CCRN as preferred or required.
How do I plan around the H-1B cap and timeline when targeting Select Medical?
H-1B cap-subject petitions are filed once per year with USCIS, with the registration window typically opening in March and an October 1 start date if selected. If you're on OPT or another status and miss the cap cycle, ask whether the facility qualifies as a cap-exempt employer or can bridge your status while you wait for the next registration period.
