Verify your credentials meet state licensing requirements
Healthcare roles at Select Medical often require state-specific licensure before a visa petition can proceed. Confirm your credentials are evaluated and recognized in the state where the position is based before you apply.
Target Select Medical's specialty hospital divisions first
Select Medical's long-term acute care and inpatient rehabilitation hospitals consistently post clinical openings. These divisions tend to have harder-to-fill roles where sponsorship conversations are more realistic than in high-volume outpatient settings.
Address your nonimmigrant intent clearly during interviews
Healthcare employers sponsoring H-1B visas need confidence you understand the multi-year commitment. Be direct about your visa timeline, current status, and cap-subject or cap-exempt eligibility so hiring managers can loop in HR early.
Confirm PERM timing if you're pursuing a Green Card
If Select Medical extends a permanent residency offer alongside an H-1B, PERM labor certification filing with DOL typically begins after several months of employment. Ask about their standard timeline during the offer stage, not after you've accepted.
Get your credentialing documents organized before the offer
Select Medical's HR team will need your foreign degree evaluations, ECFMG certification if applicable, and any prior visa approval notices to initiate an H-1B petition with USCIS. Having these ready cuts weeks off the filing timeline.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Select Medical sponsor H-1B visas for Healthcares?
Yes, Select Medical sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Healthcare roles, particularly in clinical and specialist positions that meet USCIS specialty occupation criteria. Sponsorship is typically handled through the company's HR and legal teams once a conditional offer is extended. Not every role is eligible, so confirming sponsorship availability early in the process saves time for both sides.
How do I apply for Healthcare jobs at Select Medical?
You can apply directly through Select Medical's careers portal or use Migrate Mate to browse Healthcare roles at Select Medical that are open to visa sponsorship. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect clinical competencies and any U.S.-recognized licensure or certifications relevant to the specific division, whether that's long-term acute care, outpatient rehab, or occupational health.
Which visa types does Select Medical commonly sponsor for Healthcare roles?
Select Medical sponsors H-1B visas for Healthcare professionals in specialty occupation roles such as licensed therapists, clinical coordinators, and certain nursing or physician positions. For candidates seeking permanent residency, the company has also pursued EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, which involve PERM labor certification filed with DOL before USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition.
What qualifications does Select Medical expect for sponsored Healthcare positions?
Expectations vary by division and role, but most sponsored Healthcare positions require a relevant bachelor's degree or higher in a clinical field, active or pending state licensure, and some prior experience in a U.S. or internationally recognized healthcare setting. For H-1B eligibility, USCIS requires the role to be a specialty occupation, meaning the degree must be directly tied to the duties performed.
How do I understand the visa filing timeline after receiving an offer from Select Medical?
For H-1B petitions, USCIS requires the employer to file before the cap registration window each spring, with employment starting no earlier than October 1 of that fiscal year. If you're already in H-1B status, a transfer can happen outside the cap cycle. Once Select Medical's legal team begins the process, initial preparation through filing typically takes four to eight weeks depending on whether premium processing is used.
