Get Your Credentials Evaluated Before Applying
International nursing licenses must be validated through a CGFNS credential evaluation and converted to a U.S. state RN license before Select Medical can move forward with sponsorship. Starting this process early prevents offer timelines from stalling.
Target Select Medical's Long-Term Acute Care Facilities
Select Medical's long-term acute care hospitals tend to post nursing roles with higher patient acuity requirements. Aligning your specialty background in critical care, pulmonary, or wound care to these specific facility types improves your fit from the first review.
Ask Recruiters Directly About Sponsorship Eligibility
Not every Select Medical hiring manager is familiar with H-1B or EB-3 sponsorship logistics. When you connect with a recruiter, ask explicitly whether the facility has worked with sponsored nurses before and who internally manages immigration filings.
Understand the PERM Timeline for EB-3 Nursing Roles
If Select Medical sponsors you through the EB-3 pathway, PERM labor certification is the first major step. DOL processing alone can take a year or more, so factor that into your planning if you're already in the U.S. on a time-limited status.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Open Nursing Roles at Select Medical
Nursing openings at large health systems like Select Medical are spread across hundreds of locations and specialties. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Select Medical nursing roles that are open to visa sponsorship, so you're not manually sorting through unsponsored listings.
Confirm NCLEX Passage Before Your H-1B Is Filed
USCIS requires evidence of active U.S. licensure for H-1B nursing petitions. If you haven't passed the NCLEX by the time your employer is ready to file, the petition will be premature. Coordinate your exam timeline closely with Select Medical's HR team.

Find Nursing at Select Medical JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Select Medical sponsor H-1B visas for Nursings?
Yes, Select Medical does sponsor H-1B visas for nursing roles. Because nursing is classified as a specialty occupation requiring at minimum a bachelor's degree in nursing, it qualifies under H-1B eligibility criteria. That said, sponsorship decisions are made at the facility level, so confirming sponsorship availability directly with the recruiter for your specific location is essential before advancing through the interview process.
How do I apply for Nursing jobs at Select Medical?
You can search and apply for nursing positions directly through Select Medical's careers portal, filtering by facility type, specialty, and location. Migrate Mate also lists Select Medical nursing roles that are open to visa sponsorship, making it easier to identify relevant openings without filtering through positions that won't consider international candidates. When applying, include your credential evaluation status and any active U.S. state nursing license in your application materials.
Which visa types does Select Medical commonly use to sponsor nurses?
Select Medical sponsors nurses through both the H-1B nonimmigrant visa and employment-based immigrant visa categories, specifically EB-2 and EB-3. The EB-3 pathway is the most common route for registered nurses, since the occupation is specifically listed in Schedule A, which allows employers to bypass the PERM labor certification process and file the immigrant petition directly with USCIS. The H-1B is typically used for nurses already in the U.S. who need work authorization while the green card process is underway.
What qualifications does Select Medical expect for sponsored nursing roles?
Select Medical generally expects candidates to hold an active RN license in the state where the facility is located, along with a nursing degree that meets U.S. equivalency standards. For specialty roles in long-term acute care or critical care settings, relevant clinical experience in those patient populations carries significant weight. International candidates should also have completed a CGFNS credential evaluation and passed the NCLEX before their application is considered for sponsorship.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a nursing role at Select Medical?
The timeline depends on the visa pathway. For H-1B sponsorship, USCIS standard processing runs several months, with premium processing available to reduce that to 15 business days. For the EB-3 green card pathway, the full process from petition filing to permanent residence can take several years depending on your country of birth and the current visa bulletin priority dates. Nurses from countries with high demand, like India and the Philippines, typically face longer waits for immigrant visa numbers to become available.
