Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding OT Jobs at Select Medical Jobs
Get your OT credentials evaluated early
NBCOT certification is non-negotiable for OT roles at Select Medical. Start your credential evaluation and state licensure application before you begin outreach, since some states take months to process OT licenses and delays can push back your start date.
Target Select Medical's outpatient and LTACH openings
Select Medical hires OTs across outpatient rehabilitation networks and long-term acute care hospitals. Roles in LTACH settings often have less competition than outpatient clinics, and the acuity level can make your application stand out if you have relevant clinical experience.
Confirm H-1B sponsorship before your final interview
Ask your recruiter directly whether the specific facility, not just the corporate entity, is set up to file an H-1B petition. Some Select Medical locations operate under different legal entities, and confirming this early prevents surprises after you receive an offer.
Use Migrate Mate to filter OT roles by sponsorship type
Browsing hundreds of rehabilitation postings manually is slow and unreliable. Use Migrate Mate to filter Select Medical OT openings by visa sponsorship type so you're only applying to positions where H-1B or Green Card filing is already confirmed.
Negotiate your start date around H-1B cap deadlines
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start. If you receive an offer in late spring or summer, work with Select Medical's immigration team to structure your start date so it aligns with an approved petition period.

Does Select Medical sponsor H-1B visas for OTs?
Yes, Select Medical sponsors H-1B visas for OT roles. Healthcare employers like Select Medical are considered cap-subject sponsors, so your petition must go through the USCIS lottery if you don't already hold H-1B status. If you're on OPT or another status that allows H-1B transfer, that changes your timeline. Confirm the sponsorship structure with your recruiter before accepting an offer, since individual facilities may operate under separate legal entities.
How do I apply for OT jobs at Select Medical?
You can browse and apply for OT positions at Select Medical through their careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you can identify which openings are open to international candidates. When applying, highlight your NBCOT certification, state licensure status, and any specialty experience in outpatient rehab, LTACH, or specialty hospital settings, since Select Medical's OT needs span all three.
What visa types does Select Medical typically use to sponsor OTs?
Select Medical sponsors OTs on H-1B visas for temporary work authorization and supports EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card filings for longer-term permanent residence. OT roles qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B rules because the position typically requires a master's degree in occupational therapy. Permanent residence through EB-3 is common in healthcare settings due to the consistent demand for licensed therapists.
What qualifications does Select Medical expect from OT candidates?
Select Medical expects OT candidates to hold a graduate-level degree in occupational therapy, active NBCOT certification, and a valid state license in the state where the role is based. Clinical experience in rehab, acute care, or specialty hospital settings strengthens your application. Some postings specify experience with particular patient populations, such as neurological or orthopedic cases, so matching your background to the facility type improves your chances.
How do I time my application if I'm on OPT or nearing a visa deadline?
If you're on OPT with STEM extension, you may have enough runway to secure an offer, complete onboarding, and have Select Medical file your H-1B petition before your work authorization expires. USCIS's 60-day cap-gap rule also protects F-1 students whose OPT expires between April 1 and October 1 if an H-1B petition is pending. Start your job search at least six months before your OPT end date to allow time for the offer, petition filing, and processing.
