Target engineering and technical roles first
SKF's sponsorship activity is concentrated in roles that require specialized technical knowledge, mechanical, electrical, and materials engineering positions align closely with the visa types they sponsor. Focus your application on these departments for the strongest sponsorship fit.
Understand SKF's H-1B sponsorship pattern
SKF has a consistent track record with H-1B sponsorship, particularly for specialty occupation roles in manufacturing and product development. Demonstrating that your role requires a specific degree field strengthens your petition significantly when applying through SKF.
Mention OPT and CPT early in conversations
SKF has sponsored F-1 OPT and CPT candidates, which means they're familiar with short-term work authorization pathways. If you're on OPT, flag your timeline upfront, manufacturing companies often plan hiring around project cycles and need lead time.
Position yourself for long-term sponsorship potential
SKF has supported Green Card sponsorship for engineering talent, signaling willingness to invest in employees long-term. Frame yourself as a retention-oriented hire by referencing how your technical skills align with SKF's core product lines and U.S. growth strategy.
Research open roles before applying
SKF posts across multiple U.S. locations, and sponsorship eligibility can vary by role and site. Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsors so you're applying to SKF positions that have a real sponsorship history, not just job listings with no track record.
Tailor your resume to SKF's manufacturing context
Generic engineering resumes won't stand out at a company like SKF. Highlight experience with rotating equipment, industrial systems, or materials science, the closer your background maps to SKF's core manufacturing focus, the stronger your case for sponsorship.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does SKF sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, SKF sponsors H-1B visas for qualified candidates in specialty occupation roles, particularly in engineering and technical disciplines tied to its manufacturing operations. The company has a consistent H-1B sponsorship track record in the U.S., making it a legitimate target for internationally trained professionals who need employer-sponsored work authorization to remain or enter the country.
Which visa types does SKF sponsor?
SKF sponsors H-1B visas for specialty occupation workers, Green Cards through the EB-2 and EB-3 preference categories for longer-term hires, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students completing their U.S. degrees. If you're on a student visa or transitioning from OPT, SKF's familiarity with these pathways makes them a more approachable sponsor than companies that handle only H-1B cases.
Which departments or roles at SKF are most likely to get visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at SKF is most common in engineering-heavy roles, mechanical engineers, materials scientists, manufacturing engineers, and product development specialists are the most natural fit. These positions align directly with the specialty occupation standard required for H-1B approval. Roles in corporate functions like finance or HR are less likely to generate sponsorship activity at an industrial manufacturer like SKF.
How do I find open visa-sponsored jobs at SKF?
The most reliable approach is to search for SKF roles on Migrate Mate, which surfaces positions from verified sponsors with real filing histories. This saves you from applying to listings where sponsorship is listed as a possibility but never actually happens. Once you identify open roles, check that the position type, engineering, technical, or operations, matches SKF's demonstrated sponsorship focus before applying.
How do I approach the application timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship at SKF?
H-1B sponsorship requires your employer to file a petition by the April 1 deadline for the following October start date, so timing matters significantly. Aim to secure an offer from SKF several months before that window opens. If you're on OPT with a STEM extension, you have more runway, but communicate your authorization end date clearly and early so SKF's HR and legal teams can plan accordingly.
