Match Your Trade Credentials to U.S. Standards
Sodexo maintenance roles often require documented HVAC, electrical, or plumbing certifications. Before applying, verify your credentials are recognized under U.S. licensing frameworks, as state-level requirements vary and mismatched documentation is a common reason offers stall.
Target Sodexo Accounts in Food Service Facilities
Sodexo operates maintenance teams embedded inside hospitals, university dining halls, and corporate cafeterias. Applying to roles tied to these food service accounts gives you the strongest alignment with the site types where Sodexo actively staffs and retains maintenance workers long-term.
Clarify Your Visa Category Before the Offer Stage
Sodexo sponsors multiple visa types for maintenance roles, and the right category depends on your nationality, degree status, and employment timing. Raise your visa situation directly with the recruiter before an offer is extended so the HR team can confirm the appropriate filing pathway.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Open Maintenance Roles at Sodexo
Sodexo posts maintenance openings across dozens of facility types, and not all listings are easy to surface by job title alone. Browse Migrate Mate to filter Sodexo maintenance jobs by visa type so you're only applying to positions confirmed for sponsorship.
Prepare for E-Verify Enrollment From Day One
Sodexo participates in E-Verify, meaning your work authorization is confirmed electronically within three days of your start date. Have your Form I-9 documents organized in advance, including any EAD card or visa stamp, to avoid delays that could affect your first weeks on site.
Understand the H-2B Timeline for Seasonal Maintenance Roles
Some Sodexo maintenance positions tied to seasonal food service contracts are filled under the H-2B program, which operates on fixed petition windows aligned to DOL filing deadlines. If you're targeting a temporary maintenance role, confirm the contract's start date and work backward from the H-2B filing cutoff.

Find Maintenance at Sodexo JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Sodexo sponsor H-1B visas for Maintenances?
Sodexo does not typically use the H-1B visa for maintenance roles because H-1B requires a specialty occupation tied to a bachelor's degree in a specific field, and most maintenance positions don't meet that threshold. Sodexo's maintenance sponsorship tends to run through H-2B for temporary roles, and F-1 OPT, CPT, TN, or J-1 depending on your background and the role's structure.
How do I apply for Maintenance jobs at Sodexo?
You can apply directly through Sodexo's careers portal or find visa-confirmed maintenance openings through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by sponsorship type. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific facility type listed in the posting, as Sodexo maintenance roles vary significantly between healthcare, higher education, and corporate food service accounts.
Which visa types does Sodexo commonly use for Maintenance roles?
Sodexo has sponsored maintenance workers under H-2B for temporary or seasonal placements, J-1 for exchange-based roles, and F-1 OPT or CPT for students in relevant technical programs. TN is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying trade or technical occupations. The right category depends on your nationality, the role's duration, and whether it sits within a temporary or ongoing contract.
What qualifications does Sodexo expect for sponsored Maintenance positions?
Sodexo generally looks for documented trade experience in areas like HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, or general building maintenance, often with at least two to three years of hands-on work. For food service facility roles, familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment is a strong differentiator. Formal certifications, especially state-recognized trade licenses, carry weight and can support the visa petition documentation your employer files with USCIS or DOL.
How long does the sponsorship process take for a Maintenance role at Sodexo?
Timeline depends heavily on the visa category. F-1 OPT authorization through USCIS typically takes three to five months from application, so apply early if your program end date is approaching. H-2B petitions are tied to DOL filing windows and can take several months from start to approval. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at the border on the day of travel, making it the fastest path if you qualify.
