Align your credentials with Sodexo's contract accounts
Sodexo wins multi-year contracts with hospitals, universities, and corporate clients, then hires managers to run those accounts. Tailor your resume to highlight experience managing high-volume or multi-unit food service operations, not just general restaurant management.
Apply directly through Sodexo's career portal
Sodexo posts Food Service Manager openings by region and contract type on its own careers site. Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by visa sponsorship eligibility so you can identify which specific positions are actively recruiting candidates who need sponsorship support.
Request LCA details before accepting an offer
Before signing, ask your Sodexo recruiter for the Labor Condition Application wage level and prevailing wage data DOL will use. Food service management wages vary widely by facility type, and confirming this early prevents surprises during the formal filing stage.
Time your OPT application around Sodexo's hiring cycles
Sodexo ramps up Food Service Manager hiring ahead of fall university and hospital contract renewals. If you're on F-1, apply for OPT authorization through your DSO at least 90 days before your target start date so your Employment Authorization Document arrives before onboarding.
Prepare a ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification
Sodexo frequently lists active food safety manager certification as a requirement, not a preference, for client-facing roles. Having a current ServSafe Food Protection Manager certificate before your interview removes a common hiring condition that can slow offer letters and delay petition filing.

Does Sodexo sponsor H-1B visas for Food Service Managers?
Sodexo's documented sponsorship history for Food Service Manager roles has primarily involved J-1, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and H-2B visas rather than H-1B. The H-1B requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, which can be difficult to establish for food service management positions unless the role carries significant technical or systems responsibility. If H-1B sponsorship is your goal, discuss the specific job description with Sodexo's HR team early in the process.
Which visa types are commonly used for Food Service Manager roles at Sodexo?
Sodexo has sponsored Food Service Manager candidates across several nonimmigrant categories. J-1 is common for exchange program participants placed in hospitality management roles. F-1 OPT and CPT support students completing food service or hospitality degrees. TN visas are available to qualifying Canadian and Mexican nationals in management occupations. H-2B covers temporary or seasonal food service positions. The right visa depends on your nationality, education, and the specific role's duration and scope.
How do I apply for Food Service Manager jobs at Sodexo?
Start by browsing open Food Service Manager positions on Sodexo's careers portal, where listings are organized by service segment such as healthcare, education, and corporate. You can also use Migrate Mate to filter Sodexo openings by visa sponsorship type, which helps you quickly identify roles that have historically supported candidates in your visa category. When you apply, be explicit in your application that you require sponsorship so your recruiter can route you to the right HR process from the start.
What qualifications does Sodexo expect for Food Service Manager candidates?
Most Sodexo Food Service Manager postings require a bachelor's degree in hospitality management, food science, nutrition, or a related field, alongside direct supervisory experience in a high-volume food service environment. Active food safety certification such as ServSafe is frequently listed as a requirement. Experience managing unionized teams, multi-unit accounts, or healthcare dietary programs strengthens your candidacy considerably, since many of Sodexo's largest contracts are in those segments.
How do I understand the timeline for Sodexo's visa sponsorship process?
Timeline depends on visa type. F-1 OPT authorization takes up to 90 days from your DSO application, so start early. TN status can be granted at a port of entry for Canadian nationals, making it faster. J-1 placements are coordinated through a sponsor organization and typically require four to eight weeks of preparation. For any category, Sodexo's HR team must complete internal compliance steps, including E-Verify enrollment verification, before a petition or supporting documentation can move forward.
