Align your credentials to FDA-regulated environments
Stryker's Controls Technician roles require familiarity with regulated manufacturing environments. Document experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, or automated equipment in ISO 13485 or FDA 21 CFR Part 820 settings before applying, as this directly signals readiness for medical device production floors.
Target Stryker's manufacturing and operations campuses
Stryker's Controls Technician openings concentrate around its product manufacturing hubs, including facilities in Michigan, Florida, and New Jersey. Search by facility type rather than corporate headquarters, since sponsorship decisions for technical roles often originate at the plant level.
Clarify your visa status early in recruiter conversations
Stryker's talent acquisition team handles sponsorship through a structured HR process. Confirm upfront whether the specific facility you're applying to actively files H-1B or TN petitions for Controls Technician roles, so you're not three interviews deep before the question surfaces.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Controls Technician roles
Filtering by role and sponsorship history saves you from applying to postings that won't lead anywhere. Migrate Mate lets you identify current Controls Technician openings at Stryker where international candidates have a realistic path through the sponsorship process.
Understand how TN status applies to your role
Canadian and Mexican nationals with engineering technologist credentials may qualify for TN status, which has no annual cap and no USCIS lottery. Verify that your specific Controls Technician duties map to a qualifying TN category before the offer stage so the employer's legal team can move quickly.
Plan around PERM timelines if green card is your goal
Stryker sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 green cards for qualifying technical staff, but PERM labor certification with DOL can take 12 to 18 months before the I-140 petition even files. Raise long-term sponsorship intentions during offer negotiation, not after onboarding.

Find Controls Technician at Stryker JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Stryker sponsor H-1B visas for Controls Technicians?
Yes, Stryker sponsors H-1B visas for Controls Technician roles, particularly at its U.S. manufacturing and operations facilities. Sponsorship is more common where the role requires specialized technical qualifications that align with H-1B specialty occupation criteria. Confirming sponsorship availability for the specific facility and role level before advancing in the interview process is the most reliable approach.
How do I apply for Controls Technician jobs at Stryker?
Applications go through Stryker's careers portal, where Controls Technician roles are listed by location and business unit. You can also browse current openings with visa sponsorship history on Migrate Mate, which helps you identify which postings are realistically accessible to international candidates before investing time in the application process.
Which visa types does Stryker commonly use for Controls Technician roles?
Stryker sponsors H-1B visas for Controls Technicians who meet specialty occupation requirements, TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals with qualifying engineering credentials, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students in relevant programs. For longer-term employment, Stryker also supports EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process with DOL.
What qualifications does Stryker expect for Controls Technician roles?
Stryker typically expects hands-on experience with programmable logic controllers, HMI systems, and automated manufacturing equipment. Because Stryker operates under FDA medical device regulations, familiarity with controlled production environments, validation protocols, and equipment qualification documentation is highly valued. An associate degree or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering technology, mechatronics, or a related field strengthens your application.
How long does the sponsorship and hiring process take for international candidates at Stryker?
For H-1B candidates, timing depends on where you are in your current status. USCIS standard processing takes three to five months, with premium processing available in roughly two to three weeks for an additional fee. TN status can be obtained at the border or port of entry, making it significantly faster. For F-1 OPT candidates, Stryker's E-Verify enrollment allows OPT STEM extension eligibility, adding up to 24 months beyond initial OPT.
