Tailor your resume to StubHub's stack
StubHub's engineering teams work heavily on distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and high-throughput marketplace platforms. Highlighting experience with these specifically, not just generic backend or cloud work, makes your profile relevant to their actual open roles.
Target roles that align with your visa type
StubHub sponsors multiple visa categories, but not every role maps cleanly to every status. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm the role qualifies as STEM-eligible before applying so your employer can file a timely STEM OPT extension without gaps.
Verify your degree field matches the specialty occupation standard
USCIS requires a direct relationship between your degree field and the Software Engineer role. A computer science, engineering, or information systems degree is straightforward. An unrelated degree paired with self-taught coding rarely satisfies the specialty occupation requirement without additional documentation.
Raise sponsorship early in recruiter conversations
StubHub's recruiting process moves quickly through technical screens and system design rounds. Confirming sponsorship availability before your final round prevents late-stage complications, especially if you need H-1B cap-subject filing rather than a cap-exempt transfer.
Use Migrate Mate to browse StubHub's open Software Engineer roles
StubHub posts Software Engineer positions across different specializations and seniority levels throughout the year. Search Migrate Mate to filter specifically for StubHub roles that match your visa type, so you're only spending time on positions where sponsorship is confirmed.
Prepare your LCA documentation before your start date
Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B or E-3 petition. Delays in gathering your employment offer details, worksite address, or prevailing wage documentation can push your USCIS filing date and affect your start timeline.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does StubHub sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers?
Yes, StubHub sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineers. The company has an established sponsorship process that covers cap-subject H-1B filings for new hires and transfers for candidates already holding H-1B status with another employer. If you're subject to the H-1B lottery, timing your application around the annual registration window in March is critical to your start date.
Which visa types does StubHub commonly sponsor for Software Engineer roles?
StubHub sponsors a range of visa categories for Software Engineers, including H-1B, E-3 visa (for Australian citizens), TN visa (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), F-1 OPT and CPT for current students, J-1 visa, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. The right category depends on your nationality, degree, and current immigration status, so confirming eligibility early in the hiring process matters.
What qualifications does StubHub expect for Software Engineer candidates?
StubHub's Software Engineer roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. Beyond the degree, their technical interviews emphasize system design, distributed systems knowledge, and proficiency in one or more backend languages. Experience with high-scale marketplace or e-commerce platforms is a meaningful differentiator given StubHub's core product.
How do I apply for Software Engineer jobs at StubHub?
You can browse and apply for Software Engineer roles at StubHub through Migrate Mate, which lists current openings filtered by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm eligibility before applying. Once you identify a relevant role, apply directly and disclose your visa requirement upfront. StubHub's recruiting team handles sponsorship coordination internally once an offer is extended.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship at StubHub?
If you need a cap-subject H-1B, USCIS opens registration in early March for an October 1 start date. Work backward from there: you'll need an offer letter in hand before registration opens, and your employer must complete the DOL Labor Condition Application before filing. If you're on OPT expiring before October, discuss a cap-gap or STEM OPT extension with StubHub's HR team immediately after receiving an offer.
