Verify your NCLEX and state licensure first
Florida requires active RN or LPN licensure before any employer can file a visa petition. Get your NCLEX results and Florida Board of Nursing license in hand before reaching out to TMH recruiters, or your application stalls immediately.
Target TMH's hardest-to-fill units
Critical care, emergency, and surgical nursing roles at regional health systems like TMH see the most consistent hiring pressure. Applying to high-need specialty units increases your chances of an offer that comes with sponsorship support rather than a waitlist.
Ask HR directly about H-1B cap-exempt status
Some hospital systems qualify as cap-exempt H-1B employers through nonprofit or teaching hospital status. Confirm whether TMH's H-1B filings are cap-exempt before accepting a timeline from your recruiter, since this changes your start date options significantly.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open nursing roles by sponsorship type
Searching broadly across job boards buries visa-relevant postings. Migrate Mate lets you filter Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare's open nursing positions by the visa categories they actively sponsor, so you apply to roles where sponsorship is already on the table.
Align your offer letter timeline with USCIS filing windows
H-1B cap-subject petitions open each April for an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer outside that window, work with TMH's HR team to structure your start date so the petition can be filed in the correct registration period without gaps in your authorization.

Does Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare sponsor H-1B visas for Nurses?
Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare has sponsored H-1B visas for nursing roles. Sponsorship availability depends on the specific unit, hiring urgency, and your licensure status at the time of offer. Roles in high-demand specialties like critical care or emergency nursing are where sponsorship conversations are most likely to happen. Always confirm sponsorship willingness directly with the HR or recruitment team during your initial interview.
How do I apply for Nursing jobs at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare?
Applications go through TMH's careers portal, where you can filter by nursing specialty and department. Before applying, confirm your Florida RN or LPN license is active, since TMH requires state licensure at the point of hire. You can also browse current TMH nursing openings filtered by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring process.
Which visa types does Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare commonly use for Nursing roles?
TMH sponsors H-1B visas for nursing positions and supports F-1 OPT and CPT candidates for eligible roles. Canadian and Mexican nurses may qualify for the TN visa under USMCA, which bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely and can be processed much faster. The right visa type depends on your citizenship, degree, and licensure situation. H-1B remains the most common path for nurses from countries outside Canada and Mexico.
What qualifications does Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare expect for sponsored Nursing positions?
At minimum, you need an active Florida RN or LPN license, a passing NCLEX score, and a nursing degree from an accredited program. For H-1B eligibility specifically, your role must qualify as a specialty occupation, which generally applies to BSN-level positions and above. Clinical experience in your specialty area, particularly in acute or critical care, strengthens your candidacy significantly and makes sponsorship conversations more straightforward.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Nursing role at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare?
Timeline depends on the visa type. TN visas for Canadian nurses can be processed at the border in a single day. H-1B cap-subject petitions follow an annual cycle, with registration in March and an October 1 start date at the earliest. USCIS premium processing can reduce the adjudication window to around 15 business days once a petition is filed. Plan for at least six to twelve months from offer to start date on the H-1B path.
