Build a portfolio around catalog data work
The RealReal's data operation centers on product attribution, condition grading, and catalog accuracy for resale inventory. Document any experience you have tagging, classifying, or auditing product data, even from adjacent e-commerce or retail contexts, before you apply.
Target open roles during peak intake seasons
Luxury resale volume spikes around Q4 and post-holiday consignment surges, which is when The RealReal typically scales its data contributor headcount. Applying during these hiring windows puts you in front of managers who are actively trying to fill seats.
Clarify CPT and OPT eligibility before your first interview
The RealReal has sponsored F-1 OPT and CPT candidates for data roles. If you're on F-1 status, confirm your program's CPT eligibility with your DSO before entering the hiring process so you can answer authorization questions accurately during offer discussions.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsoring employers
Not every e-commerce company that posts data roles will sponsor visas. Use Migrate Mate to surface Data Contributor openings at employers with a confirmed sponsorship history, so you're applying where your visa status is already expected and understood.
Understand TN eligibility for this role type
If you're a Canadian or Mexican national, TN status may apply if your Data Contributor duties map to a qualifying occupational category under USMCA. Confirm with an immigration attorney before assuming TN works, since job title alone doesn't determine eligibility.
Confirm H-1B filing timing with HR before accepting an offer
H-1B cap registrations open in March and petitions can't be filed until April 1 at the earliest. If you're not already H-1B exempt, get clarity from The RealReal's HR team on where you fall in their sponsorship pipeline before signing anything.

Find Data Contributor at The RealReal JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does The RealReal sponsor H-1B visas for Data Contributors?
Yes, The RealReal sponsors H-1B visas for Data Contributor roles. If you're subject to the annual H-1B cap, timing matters, since USCIS only accepts cap-subject petitions following the March registration window. Candidates already holding H-1B status from a previous employer may be eligible for a transfer, which bypasses the lottery entirely.
How do I apply for Data Contributor jobs at The RealReal?
Open Data Contributor positions at The RealReal are listed on their careers page and can also be found through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for visa-sponsoring employers. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect product data accuracy, catalog management, or inventory classification work, since those map directly to what The RealReal's data operation requires.
Which visa types does The RealReal commonly use for Data Contributor roles?
The RealReal has sponsored Data Contributors across several visa categories, including H-1B, F-1 OPT and CPT, TN, and employment-based Green Cards through the EB-2 and EB-3 pathways. The right category depends on your nationality, education, and current immigration status. F-1 students are often a fit for OPT or CPT placements early in their careers at The RealReal.
What qualifications does The RealReal expect for Data Contributor positions?
Data Contributor roles at The RealReal typically require attention to detail in high-volume product environments, familiarity with catalog or content management workflows, and comfort working within structured data systems. Experience in luxury goods, fashion, or resale marketplaces is a strong differentiator. A background in data entry, merchandising operations, or e-commerce catalog work is directly relevant.
How do I understand the sponsorship process timeline for a Data Contributor offer at The RealReal?
Timeline depends on your visa category. F-1 OPT and CPT authorizations can move quickly once your DSO issues work authorization documents. H-1B sponsorship requires the employer to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before the USCIS petition, which adds several weeks minimum. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways involve PERM labor certification, which can take a year or more from the initial filing.
