How to Get Visa Sponsorship in University of Tennessee Health Science Center Visa Sponsorship USA
Focus on research and clinical roles
UTHSC's sponsorship activity concentrates heavily in research, clinical, and faculty positions. Target roles in biomedical sciences, pharmacy, nursing, and medicine, these departments have the strongest history of supporting international hires through H-1B and Green Card pathways.
Understand the academic hiring cycle
University hiring in health sciences follows an academic calendar. Faculty and research positions typically open in fall and winter for positions starting the following academic year, plan your application timeline accordingly to align with UTHSC's recruitment windows.
Prioritize roles with clear degree requirements
H-1B eligibility requires a specialty occupation with a direct degree requirement. UTHSC roles in clinical research, health informatics, and scientific faculty consistently meet this standard, check that job descriptions specify a field-specific degree before applying.
Ask about Green Card sponsorship early
UTHSC has a track record of sponsoring both H-1B and Green Cards for long-term hires. If you're targeting permanent residency, raise the topic during the offer stage, academic medical centers often have established immigration processes for faculty and research staff.
Check for J-1 and F-1 OPT pathways if you're early-career
UTHSC sponsors J-1 and F-1 OPT in addition to H-1B, making it accessible for early-career international professionals. If you're on OPT or seeking clinical training, explore UTHSC openings on Migrate Mate, which filters roles by verified sponsorship history.
Tailor your application to UTHSC's academic culture
