About Voyant
Voyant Photonics, based in the heart of New York City, is transforming machine perception with a new class of LiDAR devices that are compact enough to fit in the palm of your hand and powerful enough to measure range, velocity, and reflectivity with unparalleled accuracy. By leveraging cutting-edge silicon photonic chips smaller than your fingertip, we deliver sensors that are not only revolutionary in performance but also affordable enough to integrate into any system. Our technology disrupts the status quo of bulky, expensive, and power-hungry LiDAR systems, making high-precision sensing accessible for widespread adoption in robotics, autonomous vehicles, drones, industrial automation, and beyond.
Why Join us?
At Voyant, you’ll be part of a team turning cutting-edge research into real-world products. As a growing startup, we offer interns the chance to make a meaningful impact, work closely with senior engineers, and learn what it takes to build disruptive sensing technology. This is more than an internship — it’s a chance to grow your technical skills and career in one of the most exciting fields of hardware innovation. Plus, we love to grow our team from within, and great interns often become great full-time teammates—we’re always excited to make that happen.
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and hands-on LiDAR Test Engineering Intern to join our team and directly contribute to the development of our next-generation LiDAR modules. This is a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience in a fast-growing startup, working with disruptive sensing technology at the intersection of photonics, hardware, and software integration. Tailor your resume to photonics hardware roles
Voyant Photonics focuses on integrated photonics and LiDAR systems. Align your resume to show hands-on experience with optical components, chip-level design, or systems integration rather than generic engineering skills.
Start OPT paperwork at least three months out
If you're on F-1 OPT, USCIS recommends filing your EAD application 90 days before your program end date. A delayed EAD creates a gap that engineering start dates won't accommodate, so build that buffer in early.
Ask recruiters specifically about H-1B cap timing
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start. If you're interviewing outside that window, confirm whether Voyant Photonics can structure a start date around the next cap cycle before accepting an offer.
Search Voyant Photonics roles using Migrate Mate
Filter open engineering positions at Voyant Photonics by visa type on Migrate Mate to see which roles align with your sponsorship status and avoid applying to positions that don't match your work authorization category.
Verify your TN eligibility for engineering classifications
TN status covers specific engineering occupations under USMCA. Confirm your job title maps to an approved TN classification and that your Canadian or Mexican credentials meet the degree requirements DOL expects for that occupation.

Find Engineering at Voyant Photonics JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Voyant Photonics sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Voyant Photonics sponsors H-1B visas for engineering roles. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions have an April filing deadline and an October 1 start date, timing your offer and onboarding around that window matters. If you're already H-1B-exempt through a qualifying institution, that constraint doesn't apply.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Voyant Photonics?
You can browse open engineering positions at Voyant Photonics directly through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can identify which positions match your authorization status. From there, apply through Voyant Photonics's careers page and flag your visa situation early in recruiter conversations to avoid delays later in the process.
Which visa types does Voyant Photonics commonly use for Engineering roles?
Voyant Photonics supports H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visa categories for engineering positions. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates, while H-1B and TN are typical for full-time hires. J-1 is less frequent but available for qualifying research or exchange arrangements.
What qualifications does Voyant Photonics expect for Engineering roles?
Most engineering roles at Voyant Photonics require a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, photonics, physics, or a closely related field. Given the company's focus on integrated photonics and LiDAR, candidates with hands-on experience in optical system design, chip fabrication, or embedded systems tend to be competitive. Advanced degrees strengthen applications for senior positions.
How do I plan my timeline if I need sponsorship for an Engineering role at Voyant Photonics?
The critical variable is your current visa status. F-1 OPT candidates should apply for their EAD at least 90 days before their program ends. H-1B candidates must align offer timing with the April 1 cap-subject filing window. TN holders can transfer status more flexibly. Raise your sponsorship needs with the recruiter before any technical interviews to confirm the company can move within your required timeframe.
