INTRODUCTION
WindBorne Systems is supercharging weather forecasts with a unique proprietary data source: a global constellation of next-generation smart weather balloons targeting the most critical atmospheric data. We design, manufacture, and operate our own balloons, using the data they collect to generate otherwise unattainable weather intelligence.
Our mission is to eliminate weather uncertainty, and in the process help humanity adapt to climate change, be that predicting hurricanes or speeding the adoption of renewables. We are building a future in which the planet is instrumented by thousands of our microballoons, eliminating gaps in our understanding of the planet and giving people and businesses the information they need to make critical decisions. The founding team of Stanford engineers was named Forbes 2019 30 under 30 and is backed by top-tier investors, including Khosla Ventures and Footwork VC.

- Able to communicate clearly and work cross-functionally with engineers and peers
- Excited to be part of a mission-driven team solving real-world problems
- Soldering and electronics assembly experience

Target technical and research roles
WindBorne Systems operates in atmospheric science and data collection, so candidates with backgrounds in meteorology, aerospace engineering, software engineering, or remote sensing are best positioned for sponsored roles. Align your application to their core research mission.
Lead with H-1B eligibility early
WindBorne Systems has sponsored H-1B visas and understands the process. Mention your visa status and H-1B eligibility clearly in your cover letter and recruiter conversations, it signals that you know what sponsorship involves and reduces friction.
Demonstrate deep domain expertise
At a specialized science and research company like WindBorne Systems, generalist applicants rarely get sponsored. The stronger your expertise in a specific technical area tied to their work, the more compelling the case for sponsorship becomes.
Search verified sponsors before applying broadly
Not every job listing signals real sponsorship willingness. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and focus your energy on employers like WindBorne Systems who have actually filed for work visas.
Engage early and ask directly about sponsorship
WindBorne Systems is a smaller research-focused company, so hiring decisions tend to be personal. Reaching out directly to their team or asking clearly about sponsorship during early conversations is more effective than waiting until late in the process.

Find WindBorne Systems JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does WindBorne Systems sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, WindBorne Systems sponsors H-1B visas. The company has a track record of filing H-1B petitions, primarily for technical and research-oriented roles. If you're an international candidate with a specialty occupation background in areas like atmospheric science, engineering, or software development, WindBorne Systems is worth pursuing as a prospective sponsor.
What visa types does WindBorne Systems sponsor?
WindBorne Systems sponsors H-1B visas as well as F-1 OPT and F-1 CPT for students, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles, and J-1 visas for exchange visitors. This range of visa types suggests the company is experienced working with international candidates across different stages of their careers and immigration journeys.
Which roles at WindBorne Systems are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at WindBorne Systems is concentrated in technical and research roles. Given the company's focus on atmospheric data and weather intelligence, roles in software engineering, data science, aerospace or mechanical engineering, and atmospheric research are most likely to qualify. Specialty occupation alignment is essential for H-1B eligibility, so niche technical expertise strengthens your case significantly.
How do I find open visa-sponsored jobs at WindBorne Systems?
The most reliable way is to use Migrate Mate, which aggregates job listings from verified visa sponsors and lets you filter specifically by sponsorship history and visa type. This saves you from applying to listings where sponsorship is uncertain. You can search for WindBorne Systems directly and browse any roles they currently have open for international candidates.
How do I approach the application timeline when targeting WindBorne Systems for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B petitions must be filed by April 1 each year for an October 1 start date, so timing your offer and onboarding process matters. Aim to have an offer in place by late February or early March at the latest. If you're currently on F-1 OPT or CPT, starting at WindBorne Systems in that status and transitioning to H-1B is a practical and commonly used path.
