Align your credentials to U.S. HR standards
WSP's HR roles typically require SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR certification. If your credentials are from outside the U.S., get a formal equivalency evaluation before applying so hiring managers can quickly confirm your qualifications meet their benchmark.
Target HR business partner openings specifically
WSP's consulting structure means HR generalist and HRBP roles tied to engineering project teams are where sponsorship activity concentrates. Filter your search by these titles rather than broad HR coordinator roles, which are less likely to qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B standards.
Use Migrate Mate to surface WSP HR roles
WSP posts Human Resources openings across multiple regions and business lines simultaneously, making it easy to miss relevant positions. Use Migrate Mate to filter WSP HR jobs by visa type so you only see roles the company has historically sponsored.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the offer stage
WSP sponsors several visa categories including H-1B, E-3, and TN. During offer negotiations, ask explicitly whether they'll support your specific visa type and whether their in-house immigration team or an outside firm handles filing, since this affects your timeline planning.
Prepare your LCA documentation before onboarding
For H-1B and E-3 hires, WSP's employer obligation begins with a Labor Condition Application filed with the DOL. Understand that your start date cannot precede LCA certification, so build at least two to four weeks of LCA processing time into any start date you negotiate.
Anticipate specialty occupation scrutiny for HR roles
USCIS increasingly scrutinizes H-1B petitions for HR positions. Come prepared with documentation showing your role requires a specific bachelor's degree field, such as Human Resource Management or Industrial-Organizational Psychology, not just any degree. Job description language matters significantly here.

Find Human Resources at WSP JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does WSP sponsor H-1B visas for Human Resourcess?
Yes, WSP sponsors H-1B visas for Human Resources roles, particularly for positions that meet USCIS specialty occupation criteria. HR business partner, workforce analytics, and talent management roles with degree-specific requirements tend to qualify most cleanly. Generalist or coordinator-level roles can face more scrutiny during the petition review process, so the seniority and scope of the position matters.
How do I apply for Human Resources jobs at WSP?
Applications go through WSP's careers portal, where you can filter by function and location. Because HR openings span multiple business lines and regions, relevant roles can be easy to miss if you're searching manually. Migrate Mate aggregates WSP Human Resources positions and lets you filter by visa sponsorship type, so you can focus only on roles that match your immigration situation before applying.
Which visa types does WSP commonly use for Human Resources roles?
WSP has sponsored H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT extensions for Human Resources professionals, along with Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-tenured employees. E-3 is available exclusively to Australian citizens, and TN applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying HR occupations. Your visa options depend on your nationality, the specific role, and how the job description is structured.
What qualifications does WSP expect for sponsored Human Resources roles?
WSP typically looks for a bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, or a closely related field for sponsored HR positions. Professional certifications such as SHRM-CP or PHR strengthen your application significantly. For senior or business partner roles, experience supporting large workforce operations in a professional services or engineering environment is a practical advantage during screening.
How do I plan my timeline when pursuing an H-1B role at WSP?
If you need a new H-1B, the annual cap lottery runs in March for an October 1 start date, meaning you'd need an offer in hand well before the registration window opens. WSP can also sponsor cap-exempt transfers if you're already in H-1B status with another employer, which removes the lottery dependency entirely and allows a faster transition with no mandatory waiting period.
