Job Description:

Cedar Grove is seeking an Environmental Compliance Manager who will be responsible for monitoring compliance with federal, state, and local agencies in matters related to facility operations. The Environmental Compliance Manager reviews and updates the Operations and Maintenance Plan as needed based on facility processes, permits, and federal and state regulations. The position involves overseeing day-to-day environmental compliance activities at all Cedar Grove facilities and sites. This includes performing daily, weekly, monthly annual reports and ensuring Solid Waste Handling Permits and Emissions Permits, etc. have been met, filed and renewed, including new permit applications, etc. The position requires traveling between facilities within the state of Washington.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Monitoring environmental compliance, i.e, permits, licenses, applications and records to ensure compliance with licensing requirements.
• Deep knowledge of O&M procedures and equipment to ensure working document reflects current operations and policies.
• Track, prepare, and timely submit all required reports to local and state regulators.
• Serves as the company liaison with federal, state, and local authorities in matters related to environmental safety.
• Deep knowledge of facility operations and permit requirements; attend inspections with regulators.
• Consults with managers and employees to identify problems, develop improvements, create and maintain quality standards.
• Work collaboratively with third party consultants regarding projects and monitoring.
• Conduct environmental compliance inspections.
• Train staff in stormwater pollution prevention at facilities and coordinate collection of quarterly samples for compliance.
• Identify cause of exaggerated sample levels.
• Make recommendations from analytical data and new technologies.
• Convey information and recommendations to upper management regarding environmental performance and liability.
• Understand liability for legal documentation.
• Maintain detailed records.
• Act as member of regulatory support team for spill and incident response activities.
• Conduct incident reporting, investigation, and follow-up to ensure compliance with all applicable reporting criteria.
• Environmental monitoring and sampling as required under facility permits.
• Attend conferences and stay up-to-date on current regulations and information.
• Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in related area (i.e., Chemistry, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or Industrial Hygiene).
• Hazardous Waste Operation and Emergency Response 40 hour certification preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience managing environmental compliance in accordance with EPA, DOE, DOH, etc regulations or working in waste management industry, or industry with similar level of permitting requirements.
• Experience with quality systems preferred.

Required Skills:

• Strong written and verbal communication and the skill to speak to groups, committees and other entities regarding facility safety programs.
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to work with individuals or groups in critical situations in an effective manner.
• Working knowledge of principles, practices and methods of environmental health and safety.
• Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations and/or policies and procedures
• Ability to read and interpret technical data and provide relevant feedback to operations
• Ability to work outside in varying and adverse weather conditions
• Ability to navigate rugged terrain

Physical Demands:

To successfully perform the essential duties of this position, an individual must be able to sit at a desk and/or walk around a facility for 4 or more hours per day, climb ladders and stairs, and frequently lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds. Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
