Construction Jobs in Salt Lake City: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a construction job in Salt Lake City?
The strongest hiring in Salt Lake City comes from commercial general contractors working on downtown high-rises, infrastructure firms tied to the ongoing TRAX and highway expansion projects, and residential developers pushing into the west side and Millcreek corridor. Candidates with OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 certification, experience on mixed-use or multi-family builds, and familiarity with Utah's seismic code requirements stand out in this market.
Which companies hire constructions in Salt Lake City?
Companies currently hiring constructions in Salt Lake City include Dennis, BHI, and STO Building, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The local market is anchored by regional general contractors, public-sector capital project owners, and specialty subcontractors serving the healthcare campus and university district expansions.
Are there remote construction jobs in Salt Lake City?
Yes, but only for specific roles. Hands-on field and site work is by definition on-site, while project management, estimating, scheduling, and BIM coordination can run remotely. About 28% of construction openings tied to Salt Lake City are remote or hybrid as of July 2026. In Salt Lake City, estimating and preconstruction roles attached to larger regional firms are the most commonly listed as remote-eligible.
How can I get a construction job in Salt Lake City with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Salt Lake City is through a union apprenticeship, with the Utah AGC and local IBEW and Carpenters chapters running programs based in the Salt Lake metro. Residential framing crews working the west-side and South Salt Lake growth corridors regularly take on helpers and apprentices. Earning an OSHA-10 card before applying signals safety awareness and moves an entry-level resume to the top of the stack.
Which industries hire the most constructions in Salt Lake City?
Salt Lake City construction roles concentrate in Construction & Real Estate, Manufacturing, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Salt Lake City's sustained population growth, an active hospital and university campus building cycle, and ongoing public transit infrastructure investment keep those sectors producing consistent hiring volume.
