Construction Jobs in Virginia Beach: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a construction job in Virginia Beach?
Focus your search on Virginia Beach's most active hiring pockets: commercial contractors working the Pembroke and Town Center redevelopment zones, federal and military contractors tied to Naval Air Station Oceana and the Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek, and residential builders expanding through the Kempsville and Princess Anne corridors. Candidates with OSHA certifications, concrete or framing experience, and familiarity with coastal construction requirements tend to move faster through hiring.
Which companies hire constructions in Virginia Beach?
Companies currently hiring constructions in Virginia Beach include Skanska, The Miller, and JLL, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Virginia Beach's employer mix skews toward general contractors, federal facility maintenance firms, and regional homebuilders serving the fast-growing western and southern parts of the city.
Are there remote construction jobs in Virginia Beach?
Yes, but only for a narrow slice of roles, since most construction work is hands-on and site-dependent by nature. About 0% of construction openings tied to Virginia Beach are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, concentrated in project management, estimating, and construction technology positions rather than field or trade roles.
How can I get a construction job in Virginia Beach with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Virginia Beach is through residential homebuilders hiring labor crew members and apprentices in the Princess Anne and Kempsville growth areas, where production volumes are high and on-the-job training is common. Regional general contractors and facilities maintenance companies serving the military installations also hire entry-level helpers. Completing a pre-apprenticeship program through local trade associations before applying strengthens your candidacy considerably.
