Construction Manager Jobs in Minneapolis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a construction manager job in Minneapolis?
Focus your search on the sectors driving Minneapolis's construction boom: healthcare system expansions along the medical corridor, mixed-use developments in the North Loop and Uptown, and public infrastructure projects tied to city and county agencies. Candidates who can show experience managing union subcontractors, navigating Minneapolis permitting, and delivering projects in active urban environments stand out most with local general contractors and owners' representatives.
Which companies hire construction managers in Minneapolis?
Companies currently hiring construction managers in Minneapolis include Gardner Builders, JLL, and WSB, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Minneapolis's market is anchored by large regional general contractors, healthcare systems with ongoing capital programs, and city and county agencies managing public works and transit infrastructure.
Are there remote construction manager jobs in Minneapolis?
Yes, but remote work is rare for construction managers whose core duties involve active jobsite oversight, and most Minneapolis roles expect regular on-site presence. About 59% of construction manager openings tied to Minneapolis are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, which tends to apply to pre-construction, estimating, and program management functions rather than field-facing roles.
How can I get a construction manager job in Minneapolis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Minneapolis is through an assistant project manager or project engineer role with a regional general contractor or a large public-sector owner like Hennepin County or Minneapolis Public Schools. Local firms handling multi-family and commercial renovations in neighborhoods like Northeast and Longfellow regularly hire candidates with construction-related degrees, internship experience, or a background in a skilled trade who are transitioning into management.
Which industries hire the most construction managers in Minneapolis?
Minneapolis construction manager roles concentrate in Retail, Technology & Software, and Construction & Real Estate, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Minneapolis's sustained investment in healthcare campus development, downtown commercial redevelopment, and regional transit and infrastructure projects keeps those sectors among the steadiest sources of construction manager openings in the metro.
