Construction Project Engineer Jobs in Seattle: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a construction project engineer job in Seattle?
Focus your search on general contractors, civil engineering firms, and public agencies driving Seattle's transit and development pipeline, particularly those working on Sound Transit Link expansion, Waterfront Seattle improvements, and South Lake Union commercial builds. Candidates with BIM software proficiency, RFI and submittal management experience, and familiarity with Washington Department of Transportation contract requirements stand out in this market. Networking through the Associated General Contractors of Washington strengthens local visibility.
Which companies hire construction project engineers in Seattle?
Employers hiring construction project engineers in Seattle right now include Skanska, JTM Construction, and Jobot, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Seattle's hiring mix includes large regional general contractors, civil infrastructure firms tied to Sound Transit and the Port of Seattle, and national construction management companies with permanent Pacific Northwest offices.
Are there remote construction project engineer jobs in Seattle?
Yes, but they are uncommon, since construction project engineers typically must be on-site to oversee field operations, coordinate subcontractors, and inspect work in progress. About 0% of construction project engineer openings tied to Seattle are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to cover pre-construction planning, estimating, and document control rather than active field roles.
How can I get a construction project engineer job in Seattle with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Seattle is through a project engineer assistant or field engineer role with a mid-size general contractor working on commercial or multifamily projects in neighborhoods like Capitol Hill, Sodo, or the Northgate area around the new light rail station. Seattle public agencies, including the Seattle Department of Transportation, occasionally hire entry-level engineering coordinators. A LEED credential or proficiency in Procore and Bluebeam gives early-career candidates a concrete advantage with local employers.
Which industries hire the most construction project engineers in Seattle?
Most construction project engineer openings in Seattle sit in Construction & Real Estate and Staffing & Recruiting, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Seattle's active transit buildout, ongoing waterfront redevelopment, and sustained demand for commercial and mixed-use density in neighborhoods like South Lake Union and Bellevue's Spring District keep those sectors consistently hiring.
